Hey all! I'm a college program Marine Option who picked up a national scholarship yesterday! Yay! I'm a little confused, though. Would my scholarship activate next semester, or next year? I've heard some conflicting answers. Thanks a lot!

It activates the following year. In essence it will be a 3 year scholarship.

An answer to another question you might have... you don't do CORTRAMID after your freshman year, either.

Ask your cadre. My son won a sideload scholarship in the fall semester of his sophomore year and it kicked in during the spring semester of sophomore year. rocatlin may be correct regarding a high school scholarship but it seems clear that the cadre would know or could find out.

My son's unit / MOI (who actually sat on the board) looked into it, but the "4 year" scholarships don't activate until the fall semesters. It might be a budgeting thing.

That makes a certain amount of sense to me since the 4 years are budgeted to kick in during the fall. I'm just a guy who figures the cadre is the authoritative source and I often wonder why people in a ROTC program come here to ask their question first.... sort of like ClarksonArmy who is always asking "What did your cadre say?"
