I won my MOCs (TX21) nomination to USMA early this past December. This morning I received a call from him telling me that I had won an appointment to USMA. After checking my candidate portal and email, I’ve seen no confirmation of this. I understand that MOCs don’t have the same understanding of the process as FFRs, etc., and want to make sure he's just not wording things incorrectly. Do MOCs find out about appointments before candidates do?

From what I understand, MOCs are notified first, usually on Friday, to allow them time to get in touch with the candidate and inform them of the appointment. Other posters have indicated that the SA tends to hold off on updating the portal or notifying the candidate until Monday or early next week to give the MOC this courtesy. Sounds like you have an appointment!

Search the site. MOCs are given the opportunity to make the call, some do and some don’t.

Your portal will update soon.

Congrats.

Congratulations .. limber up for your happy dance! While portals update all the days ... Fridays are sometimes very good days to check in.

From what I understand, the MOC is usually first notified on Friday, giving the candidate time to contact and update the deadline. Other posters indicate that SA tends to delay updating the portal or notifying candidates until Monday or early next week, out of courtesy to the MOC. It looks like you have plans!
Huh? I don’t understand your first sentence?

And you can go to the DIG appointment thread, and see that it’s not a ‘Friday/Monday’ process.

Elected officials can be notified of appointments at anytime during the week, and may or may not choose to notify applicants as part of their process. Admissions allows some period of time before they initiate their notification process via portal, email, etc. Applicants can be informed a variety of ways by the elected official (or not) or simply encounter the appointment offer in their portal.

Not sure what you are referring to by giving the candidate time to contact and update the deadline.

*DIY. Not DIG. Apologies for the mistype. Outside the edit window.

Each SA has their own do it yourself (DIY, common acronym, not unique to SAF) appointment thread, here on the forums, where posters can record their appointment information.

See each individual SA sub form for they DIY appointment list.
