MOC Question

Hey everyone,

I placed USMA as my top choice to all three of my MOCs, but I received an LOA to USNA. Ideally, I would like to receive at least one nomination to USNA with the rest to USMA.

My question is do the congressional offices coordinate with each other when they nominate candidates to the academies, or are they completely independent of each other?

Hi Hunter,
It depends on where you live. My son's two state senators coordinate to only yield ONE nomination to only ONE service academy. So you cant get a nomination to two service academies and you cant get a nomination from two state senators.

Our state representative will give you an additional nomination but to only one service academy.

My son has an LOE to USMA and an LOA to USNA. So he had to go into the nomination process picking where he wanted to go and put all of his eggs in one service academy basket OR split the pot down the middle and ask his State Senator(s) for one service academy and ask his state representative for another Service Academy.

Your state may be the same-or may be completely different.

I asked the offices and I seem to be in the same situation as your son: LOE to USMA and LOA to USNA, but each office will only nominate a candidate to one academy. I put down USMA as my first choice to all three offices, but I'm hoping for at least one nomination to USNA so I don't let the LOA go to waste. Hopefully they can communicate with one another and figure out what would work best!

I'm thinking of e-mailing the remaining two offices and explain the situation to them and see if I could receive a USNA nomination rather than a USMA one, however I'm not sure if this would be appropriate :frown:
