4/c summer - Swab Summer for 6 weeks, Eagle for 1 week.
3/c summer - all go to Eagle for half the summer, the other half go to an active cutter or station. Then they switch.
2/c summer - Cadre, Cadet Aviation Training Program (CATP), Rules of the Road (ROTF), Coastal Sail Training Progam (CSTP) weapons training.
1/c summer - 10 weeks on an active duty cutter, or 5 weeks ona cutter and 5 weeks internship.
Doesn't matter what your major is for cutter selection, however it may play a part in any internship you might seek.
Of course, summer school is also a possibility for those who need it.

In addition during the final three summers, sailors have an opportunity to go out and do the Summer Ocean Sail program. During 1st class summer, instead of doing an internship a cadet may be a Company Commander, or Regimental Staff for Swab Summer.
