My DS just reviewed his portal page and found that he received a nomination from both senators and his congressman and a JROTC nomination. He does not want to believe that this is possible because we heard that the representatives work together to make sure that there nominations are not wasted. Does anyone have any insite?

Happened to us, too (except for the JROTC). No appointment yet, though!

I wonder how common it is to receive three (or four) nominations and not get an appointment. I'd love to know the stats on that!

Congratulations on your Son or Daughters nominations. We have not head anything from anyone except from the JROTC officer. No appointment yet. Reluctantly hopeful.

I think in part in depends on where you are from. Some states have more kids apply than others. Some states don't do duplicate nominations so it's impossible for some to get more than one.

Either way, obviously they were impressed so good luck and fingers for an appointment!

From what I understand we are in a very competitive area and were told not likely to get more than one. That is why DS is reluctant to believe that he has 3, plus has not received formal notification yet either. Two of them just posted over the weekend. Is it possible that they could be removed from the portal page?

I really liked the analogy that the Director for Nominations and Appointments used. Summary of her statement: multiple nominations doesn't make a candidate more competitive, but gives them more chances at being selected for an appointment from different slates. Don't ready anything more or less from it.

FYI. This year Florida MOCS shared their lists of nominees; no more double or triple noms (one per customer).

I thank you for the information, I guess the real question is ... If a nomination appears on the portal page, is it a nomination? Sorry just hard to believe the number of nominations if that is the case.

Sometimes appointment happens fast? My DS got nom (Congressman phone call) jan 6, nom should up on portal that night, Jan 8th LOA,
appointment 10days after, and accepted few days after. Lets say Jan was a very exciting month!

Can't say how common that is nor is there any hard data publicly available let alone even tracked by anyone on this but it happens every year.

usnabgo08 put it best when he quoted the Director herself..."multiple nominations doesn't make a candidate more competitive"
