Hi, plebe summer starts in a little under two weeks, my question is, can I bring a musical instrument with me or do I need to wait until after plebe summer. Also, if you don't intend to join one of the musical organizations how much time would there be to practice.

#1: Bring only what your permit to report package says to bring.
#2: Not much - by which I mean none.

Have your folks bring it on PPW.

^^^ Very little to no time during the academic year as well....

For those unfamiliar with plebe summer, realize that for 7 straight weeks, you will not have a single second "to yourself." Even your 25 minutes of daily free time are crammed with laundry, showering, studying rates, preparing uniforms, and writing a "thought of the day," in addition to eating snacks and writing letters.

Have your parents bring it for PPW. Detailers will keep it for the last week, and then give it back for the ac year. Or you can have it mailed over.

No. Beg to differ. You will have plenty of time during the ac year to play your instrument. Every Friday night. Every Sunday afternoon. Duty Weekends. Saturday mornings when SMT wraps up before 1200. Those off periods between classes when you just don't feel like doing homework. Sports period for NARPs, when your company doesn't have a match, or when your ECA has an off day. The days when you finish your homework in class because you took Calc BC and AP Chem in high school and can understand the material without the lecture. You validated PE/Swimming.

Plenty of free time to play your instrument. The more important issue here is how much your companymates and roommates like your playing. Hopefully you're good.
