My AROTC Application Status Just Changed :)

About how long did it take from the status change on the AROTC website until you were able to see what school(s) the scholarship was awarded to?

As I recall, last year it was 2-3 days for the November Board. I think it went a bit faster in later boards. Since this is the first one of this year, I'd be prepared to wait a few days.

Also, last year when the portal listed the schools it did not identify which schools were offering 3-year or 4-year scholarships. I suggest calling each school that makes an offer to get the details. The letter that showed up a week later identified the type of scholarship each school was offering.

I'm starting to fear for the worst

Why? A few people have seen a change on the website. There are thousands of applicants! You should not be the slightest bit discouraged about anything. It is still so early in the game, and with a 3.49 GPA and 34 ACT, unless you have 0 EC's and no athletics, you should be quite confident.

Yes, my DS' info just changed. I checked this morning after I saw the first post. Out last name begins with "S", so I figured it was an alphabetical thing. DS has 3.52 GPA and a 28 ACT, plus all the athletics, EC, volunteer hours, etc. Uniform, keep checking the site today!

Update:
Now says:
**DO NOT LOG ON! We are currently having problems with the website. DO NOT LOG ON!**
DoDMERB often has problems. They will eventually fix it and it will be fine....until tomorrow...or this weekend....or next week.

Mainly because I'm a pessimist at heart, but also because of the fact that they've already updated up to "V" and thus it appears very likely that as a "P" I've been passed over this board.

Note: When I say fear for the worst I don't mean that I'm fearful that I won't get a scholarship by the time I go to college, I simply mean that I'm afraid that I've been passed over by this board. It's not emotionally shattering, just midly dissapointing.

My son has the same feeling, he texted me from school and told me he hasn't seen a change yet either. His stats are a bit lower the yours in the ACT. He has a:

GPA 3.55 unweighted
ACT 24

Not sure what his chances are in the long term with only 3 boards. I guess he'll just have to wait and see.

Any thoughts I can pass his way.

Status just changed to DoDMERB for my son (was at "selected for interview" as of 1330 hours). Last name is C, so I suspect the system is not updating in alphabetical order, could be done by SSN or random.

1400 SAT/3.75 GPA (UW)

Is it confirmed that it is alphabetical? If it is typical Army, it is completely random. They could be notifying by grabbing from a random stack. Don't be discouraged, no matter what letter your last name is.

I was told it was random.

Last name H and my SAT/GPA are about the same as I have seen on here. Have got schship to 3 schools, one wasn't even on my list?

Was the school ever on your list?

I'm not sure of the odds either, I suppose the only thoughts I have are these.

1.) Check in with your point of contact at Cadet Command to make sure that your Scholarship went before the board, it may sound a bit odd, but confirming that my application was at least considered made me feel a lot better.

2.) Remember, the competition will get easier as we get into later boards, right now we are probably competing with half (or more) of West Point's Class of 2015, once they get their precious LOA and decide to commit to the USMA our prospects will start to look alot brighter.

My son removed a school from his list long before the first board met, when a PMS showed us the application online the school was still listed in the no. 8 spot. We thought that was strange given you can only have 7 schools listed. Maybe they just don't remove them. Oh well...welcome to the military.

*Jumps for joy*

You two just made my day! well, ok afternoon, but whatevs

i know im still waiting!!! im very nervous... i called one of my top schools and he said it is random and it is selected over a matter of 2 to 3 days. so im hoping i can go on to the next process!!

DS just got a call from first choice RO
he has 4yr to his 1st, 2nd and 4th choice schools...

Off to tell all his friends, walking on air.

My DS status changed from: "You have been selected for an interview. Please contact PMS..." to "You may check the status of your medical qualification on Dodmerb..."

We know he is already medically qualified as we received a letter so hopefully this is a good sign for scholarship :)
last name B...GPA, ACT, etc status quo what has been noted before.

I just got a call from my son and an email from his No. 1 choice school. He has received the 4 year scholarship to at least his first chioce, he said he will let the other schools contact him themselves. I'm sure everyone at his school is wondering why he is dancing through the halls with a big grin on his face today. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear.

Just for a reference his stats were;

GPA 3.55 unweighted
ACT 24

I can have him post his total resume if anyone wants.
As you can tell his ACT was not very high, but it shows that they look at the whole person during the selection process. This is our second son that has gone through the process and both now have been selected. We would be happy to share what we have learned through both times we have all gone through this. Again good luck to you all.
