My DS just got his LOA last Saturday, Dec 3 so of coarse we are waiting anxiously for his nomination letter to come in the mail. He had his interview with his congressional panel on 11/17 and he felt it went well. But I am concerned he hasn't heard from his Senators. We are in California and haven't heard from either. Hoping not to only have the congressional nomination to be putting all our hope. Has anyone in California heard from the Senators yet? Interviews yet? Would love to hear.

Ca-7 here with no news from senators yet either. DS has Congressional interview tomorrow and already has a presidential nom. From my research on this forum it seems that the CA senators may wait until congressional noms are all in to not repeat a nom on a candidate who has a congressional. Curious if there are any CA candidates in the past who received BOTH congressional AND senator nomination in past year?

Crair70 good to know. I am learning so much...if your DS has a presidential nomination aren't you set on nominations? Or is it better to have more then 1?

Have him call the offices of the congressmen and tell them about the LOA. They should have already received a copy of it, but it still helps to make sure.

I received a Presidential Nomination to West Point and USNA, but it is my understanding that they prefer you to get a Congressional nomination so they can free up a nomination for someone else.

However, don't worry about playing their admissions games. If he got a Presidential nomination, he's fine. If he gets a Congressional, good for him, but don't stress about it.

LOA..

congratulation... contact your MOC office and BGO.......my son recevied LOA on 11/21, MOC interviewed on 11/19 , Nominaton on 12/2 and Offer of appointment letter from MOC ( not from USNA) on 12/9... CA-44.

We haven't heard from any CA senator, and our Congressional committee interview isn't until Dec 17th....We are in CA25

future_navy_mom,
Congratulations on your son's LOA. I think one nomination is good for an appointment if you have an LOA. Please have your DS call his MOC ASAP notifying of your son's LOA although LOA was cc'd to them.

Here is my DS's timeline (CA-48)
8/15 Application completed
9/28 LOA received
11/4 Congressman's Board Interview
11/25 Nomination letter from Congressman received (letter was dated 11/22)
12/7 Phone call from Congressman(himself) congratulating DS's appointment (DS answered his cell phone in the middle of the class as the phone was coming from Washington DC!)
Still waiting for an official BFE from USNA

DS's friend (different district) already had a phone interview with Senator Feinstein's board on 12/3. DS's friend had an interview with his Congressman's office on 11/19, then received a nomination from congressman after he had a phone interview with Senator Feinstein's board and I don't think he has received a nomination from Feinstein, yet, or they might say "we will give the nomination to someone else since you already received one from your congressman" if they talk. I don't know if CA Senators have a policy of "No double nomination". DS was not selected for Senator Feinstein's interview. I don't know anything about Senator Boxer.
