My tune for Friday

Any oldie but a classic :The Vogues:"5 O'Clock world". I hope that all of you have a 5 Oclock whistle waiting to free you for a different world this weekend regardless of where you work.

Great song. Unfortunately my 5 o'clock whistle is the weather enroute to home station, as right now we can't get anywhere from here.

Bonus points if you remember which show used your tune as its theme song for a season.

The Drew Carey Show.

As Sprog has mentioned- Drew Carey show (former Marine which is hard to imagine )which for at least the early episodes is a classic in it's own right:thumb:
the words to this tune are right on target- at least this weekend. Getting together on the connecticut shore with several classmates where the name of th egame is Lobster andBeer on the deck and 35 year old stories that will still make us laugh (they get funnier the more beer you drink:rolleyes:)Not gonna be much of a beach weekend I'm afraid.

Up every mornin just to keep a job
I gotta fight my way through the hustling mob
Sounds of the city poundin in my brain
While another day goes down the drain

But its a five oclock world when the whistle blows
No one owns a piece of my time
And theres a five oclock me inside my clothes
Thinkin that the world looks fine, yeah
Tradin my time for the pay I get
Livin on money that I aint made yet
Ive been goin tryin to make my way
While I live for the end of the day

Saw some John Wayne memobrilia for sale the other day. Wrist Watch for sale had all "5's" at every hour location. It's Five O'Clock Somewhere. His Son said he wore it all the time.

Could only get this via Blackberry (Company blocks youtube)- Blackberry probably doesn't do Johnny Cash justice. Does remind me of Sunday morning sitting upstairs in the O Club at Ft Campbell with Bloody Mary's and a seriously pounding head watching the 3 Stooges. ah- to be young and brain dead once again. Those days disappeared when the then 101st CG had the MPs show up on Friday night outside the doors to the club with portable breathalizers. I never saw a business shrink so fast as the OClub after that. It was like putting a stake thru a vampire's heart:eek:
