    Greetings! I was just appointed to the NAPS Class of '16 and just wanted to start a thread for all NAPS appointees to post maybe their names, state of origin, and your intended major at USNA. It's never too early to start networking.

    Joel smith originally from southern California but have been living in Virginia for 3 years now. Im looking to major in anything related to engineering or STEM specific majors, honestly undecided. I know that's broad ha but for simplicity;

    Good morning guys, my name is Demetrice Thomas and Ihave been accepted for NAPS class of 2016. I am currently enlisted so i'm pretty sure my route to get here was alot different from you guy's. However, I will still like to know what have you guys heard about NAPS and what are you expecting from this experience.

    Very Respectfully,

    "Big Fat Envelope," or acceptance.
    As opposed to the TWE (thin white envelope), or rejection.

    Demetrice, recommend you don't use your real name on boards like this. Just wise to keep yourself anonymous. Secondly, congrats. If you go into the prep school thread there and do some searching you will see some NAPS posts from the past. I did not attend NAPS, but can try to provide some info.

    I think from a prior enlisted perspective, the biggest thing will be academics. It has probably been awhile since you were in a classroom? This a great year to get back into the school routine, develop college level study habits, and really focus on the plebe year courses you will encounter while at USNA. NAPS really focuses on the core Plebe courses such as chemistry, calc and writing. They want to develop and polish your fundamentals in these courses to start you off right at USNA. Being prior enlisted you will adapt to the military side easily. NAPS indoc will be fairly easy for you as long as you are in good shape. They will lean on you as a prior to help out the non-priors transition to the military lifestyle and regiment. With that being said, NAPS is not the fleet. This is a great transition year for you to really begin developing your leadership skills and figure out what kind of officer you want to be. I think the NAPS transition year is great for priors to help out with this transition from enlisted to future officer in training also. One or the other is not better, but they are different. Expectations are different. You will have more freedom at NAPS than you do as a plebe. Also, more than likely you will be 21 as a plebe, don't drink as a plebe. Just don't. It is an easy way to get in conduct trouble or worse, honor violation if you lie about it. Secondly, have fun. You have obviously worked hard and stood out as a leader in your unit/ship. Embrace this chance and learn a ton, but have fun too! Play a sport if you want. Yes, NAPS is full of recruited athletes, but they always need extra bodies to fill up teams. USNA PRT standards are much harder than fleet standards. Ensure you are in good shape when you arrive at NAPS and definitely for Plebe Summer. Find a USNA grad in your unit/ship, they would be more than happy to answer your questions and help you prep. Best of luck on your journey.

    Hello everyone,

    Quick question, on the certificate of acceptance for NAPS, who signs the "Witness Signature/Date" located on the last page?

    Hey Everyone,

    Has anyone put any thought into what they want to service select while at the Academy?

    If you mean service as in between navy or marine. I definitely want to go navy. And if you mean what type of officer. I am still undecided but top choices now would be between pilot and specwarfare probably.

    Wanted to let your parents know of two face book pages - one for the Naval Academy Preparatory School - that is important because NAPS will post all the official information including parent information, parent weekend schedules etc. on that page and the second page is for parents of NAPS class of 2016. Both are great resources and the parents page is fabulous support.
