No NASS is not even close to Plebe Summer or the entire USNA experience ... but what it does, in an age-appropriate way, is give teens a hint of what military/Academy life might be like ... those who don't like NASS certainly won't adapt to the real thing ... and it's good for them to know that ... they may, however, choose ROTC after this ... or not ... Summer Seminar takes kids about to be seniors in High School and gives them an ever-so-gentle intro ..., my youngest went this summer ... and loved it ... knowing (almost) full well what his older brother went through last year ... younger son loved the physical aspect, but the prospect of the classes thrilled him even more ... our neighbor kid also went ... and hated everything about NASS ... the entire experience ... I don't think it is a waste of time ... it gives prospective candidates first-hand experience; it gives new youngsters leadership experience and exposes all to a way of life few have any chance to sample before signing up ...
