NASS 2010

Thank you everyone for your generous comments. No matter what circumstances, I usually do not pass up an opportunity that will futher enhance my knowlegde about anything (this is my type of personality :shake:). I think I will attend the Admissions Forum this Saturday.

I'm am so stoked for the summer! 3/3 summer seminars!

Best of luck to all those who are waiting.

I think it is definitely a good idea to attend all such events and meet as many of the people "in charge" as possible. In our area, staffers and members of congressman's nomination committees were also in attendance! Good folks to greet with a strong handshake and let them know of your desire to attend a SA.

I agree Goldfarb1, they don't actually take "attendance" that's for sure. But it is my experience that at the forums I did attend the representative was the same person each time. Of course they develop a mailing list from these cards and of course these are not the people from the Admissions Board, but when you have the opportunity to speak with someone I think you should take it. You can never know what influence they may have.

I wouldn't go this far for a civilian school, that's a whole different type of competitive process.

I'm just suggesting not to pass up the opportunity if you you can attend. I think it's beneficial.

Agreed 100%. I absolutely support the idea of going to the various forums they put on.

I've been to one. If you think you know everything about an academy and its a waist of your time, you are wrong. Even if you don't talk to admission officers, you will atleast get a perspective from an alumni which is priceless.

I spent 30 minutes speaking to a KP alumni. He had absolutely no connection to admissions, but I learned so much from him with regards to what KP and post KP is like.

Folks, please don't call your BGOs to find out if you've been admitted to NASS! Seriously.

We don't get notified of NASS acceptances. I'm not sure how this BGO heard . . . it could be he called CGO about this candidate. But it is NOT routine. And, with 3,000 BGOs, USNA doesn't really want all of us calling about every possible candidate.

Moreover, we don't even know who from our area has applied to NASS unless the candidates themselves tell us. We will know who was accepted come May 1 or June 1 -- whenever USNA decides to upload the Class of 2015 information onto our systems. Not until then.

Patience everyone. Hard as it is, please be patient.

I found out about NASS through my BGO as well (I'm currently applying for 2014, still waiting to hear.) I remember filling out all the papers except for the payment for USAFA SS because I could only go to one (for money and other reasons) and the AFA SS deadline for acceptance was before I would even hear from USNA. However shortly before sending in the AFA payment I found out from my guidance counselor that I had been accepted to NASS (he heard from my BGO). I went to NASS and I'm so glad I did, my heart has been set on getting in there ever since.
