NASS acceptance and denies

Okay I'm aware people have already been accepted to Summer Seminar.
If you're willing to share, has anyone already not been accepted?
I haven't heard anything yet.
Thanks!

No response back here. I applied the day it opened as well. But I also recently returned from a CVW, and most of the Mids told me not to worry about SS, as most of them didn't get accepted either. there was one candidate from my company who said he got accepted to SS a week after he applied. I was confused, especially since he said he hadn't taken any standardized tests (ACT or SAT). But that's my experience so far, best of luck to all of you.

I applied to USNASS on February 25th and was accepted on April 8. I also was invited to a CVW the same day that I will be attending this weekend. Keep your head up, the acceptance letter will be coming soon! I was denied to USAFASS and thought it was over for me.

NASS is partly a recruiting tool as mentioned previously, so they attempt to invite individuals from across the country who might not otherwise be aware of USNA. Getting chosen (or turned down) has no impact on eventually getting an appointment. If you are new to this forum, good to take a few minutes to do a 'search' of older threads as the same questions get asked every year. Most of the commonly asked questions have already been answered in prior years.

Yeah I understand it's a recruiting tool but it would be nice to go and really know what it's like. Just because I live an hour away does not mean I really know what it would be like to go there.

I got turned down from the USAFA SS but i'm still waiting to hear back from NASS. Anybody know when I should be hearing by?

I haven't heard back about NASS either, but I was invited to a CVW in late April. I think the CVWs probably provide a more realistic take on what its like at USNA (compared to NASS). Hope you hear back soon! :)

I applied the day it opened and got accepted about a week or two later. I honestly did not think I was going to get in because I had taken the SAT and ACT and only got a 30 on the ACT and lets just say a barely above average SAT grade; however, I did have a pretty good PSAT score that may get me National Merit. Just as a question, does going to NASS help my chances at all, or is it useless since people are saying that most mids didn't go?

When you go to NASS, be prepared to exemplify all your skills. Mids and Staff are going to be watching you to see if you have the potential to become a part of the Naval Academy. They will write reports on you that will go into your file for application. You will also be taking a CFA (Candidate Fitness Assesment) while you are there, so it's best to be physically prepared while you are there

I thought people were saying April 15???
That's where I am confused as well. When I finished my NASS application it said that I would be informed of my final status no later than May 1st, however, on the letter I received in the mail, promoting NASS, it said no later than April 15th. So let's hope for April, but know for certain by May 1st.

My BGO basically gave me the same run-down as you just did. I should have worded it better, how much sway does the squad leader report and cfa have on the app?

Well, I do not know for certain what weight each portion has on your application, so for that, you'll probably need to get the inside scoop from someone at admissions. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

NASS technically provides no points to your score. Knocking out your CFA in a competitive environment can always help. I mean running around a track pacing yourself is one thing, running around it with 20+ others to push one another is a another thing. Can an eval help you... sure. Can it hurt you... sure. I mean if you go and are a total slacker, bad attitude and aren't a team player I think that will hurt you. Will doing well at NASS get into USNA, no. Could it help to build the whole package and show you are a great leader, team player and willing to work hard, yes.

I asked Admissions a few days ago and got a reply back last night saying that all NASS final announcements will be given by April 15th.

My DS has not heard either way. He just got back from a CVW invite. He said that none of the Plebes he was with had attended NASS. He's still hoping to go but understands to keep pushing forward and not put too much thought into NASS acceptance or denial. Good luck!

Attending or getting selected for NASS is no guarantee of a future appointment. More notable is the fact that not attending (or getting rejected) for NASS is no indication that you will not get an appointment - as your son found out during his CVW.

I had twins apply to the Naval Academy. Both got selected for NASS. One had no interest in attending - so he didn't. The other attended (somewhat reluctantly) and considered it a waste of his time; and, if he had to do it all over again, he would have never attended NASS. Both of them got CVW invites and elected to never attend.

They already knew a lot about the Naval Academy. These are great programs if you do not really know much about the academy. But, even then, most people attend NEITHER of these programs: NASS or CVW. And yet, both my sons received LOAs, got an appointments, did well, and graduated.

The bottom line: The importance/value of NASS is overblown, in my opinion. I would think CVW would be of more value than NASS.

Well- here I go again... second son with dreams of USNA. We are attending CVW this weekend (April 14-16) and just got accepted into NASS session 1. I see a lot of gray hairs in my future!! GO NAVY!

Will I be able to send my CFA scores from NASS to USAFA? I have heard that people have had problems with this but in theory it should be fine since it's an official test, right?
