NASS Acceptance

I would like to get an update on the information you posted. Who was your POC at the Academy? Also, do you know if this is a rolling acceptance and, if so, how many times are they going to be sending out letters and when is the next scheduled? Do you know the cutoff date of the original group that received letters? I believe that the letters were postmarked March 4th so I assume that the cutoff date must have been the first week in February. Please confirm.

This information is generally sent to all BGOs. I think you answered your own question when you asked if it is rolling. In regards to most of your other questions, no one knows, and it doesn't matter. If you submitted your application, then it is in and will be reviewed, hopefully you will get some type of news within a few weeks.

I know of an applicant who submitted their form on the first night and hasn't been accepted yet....and I am sure there are many more in the same situation, who read these boards, and are anxiously waiting, as well.

I have been accepted, and I turned all my paper work in and submitted my payement. Will I receive some sort of confirmation that USNA received everything and that I'm signed up for NASS? I know I submitted everything a little close to the 2 week deadline so I wanted to make sure I still have a slot.

You receive a letter (in the same type of envelope) confirming your spot if you've handed in the forms and paid. Mine came about two and a half weeks after I sent my forms in.

Congratulations to everyone who has made it into NASS!!! I promise that you will have the time of your life. NASS was my ultimate deciding factor to choose USNA! I just thank God that I get to go again this summer..but to be a Plebe!!!!! Once again, CONGRATS! :D

DS got his letter today, and he applied the second day applications opened up... so do not despair if you have not heard anything yet! We had pretty much already decided he was not going to get in, so he is SO VERY EXCITED. Plane tickets already booked and will be sending in acceptance and payment asap on Monday. He gets home from Texas Boy's State on Friday, heads out for NASS on Saturday... going to be a fun, tiring 2 weeks for him!

Are there letters of rejection to NASS?

DS applied with in 24 hours of app becoming available. Stats are upper end of current class profile. Has heard nothing.

DS has classmate who recently received his LOA to USNA. Classmate told DS he applied to 2011 NASS and never received anything froim USNA. Ended up going to USMA SLS.

Was that a USPS malfunction or does USNA simply not inform those who are rejected?

It was about a year ago my son was initially denied an invitation to NASS 2011. But, in the same letter (TWE) he was invited to Candidate Visit Weekend that was scheduled for late April 2011. While at USNA we had time to stop by admissions and thank them for the invitation to CVW. We asked if there was a waiting list and if so, could they please put my son on it. They said there was a waiting list because they know some applicants will not be able to make their slotted NASS session due to scheduling conflicts. Shortly after my son returned home from CVW he received another TWE from USNA admissions but this time, it was inviting him to NASS session 1.

I want to share our son's experience because it looks as if NASS invitation season is upon. I hope his story helps with any stress or worry some may have. In my son's case, his initial denial into NASS allowed him to see USNA through CVW, which gives an applicant a little different view of life as a Midshipman. As so much in life, things have a way of working out.
Cheers and Good Luck to All...

Thanks for the response.

Sounds like there was an actual denial rather than simply a lack of communication.

Am I correct?

Thanks again.

TWE Can Be Good

Yes, there was an actual denial letter that came in a TWE. But in the same letter, they invited my son to CVW. His subsequent invitation letter to NASS 2011 came in another TWE so, we've found good news can also be found in a TWE. Come to think of it every TWE my son received from USNA had some, if not all, good news in it.
Cheers...

I think May 1st is the cutoff date for the notifications. If you haven't received anything by then, perhaps it'd be a good idea to call.

My son finally received his acceptance to NASS on Thursday. He was accepted to session 1. What's cool is that my older son will be Commissioning May 29th and we will all be in town for that so we drop him off at the Academy..it works out great! For everyone still waiting dont give up and if you dont hear anything by May 1st give them a call. I have two kids at the Academy and we have always been notified for everything.

Not sure if this was addressed earlier, but my DD has gotten accepted into the first session of NASS. However, she accepted the same date for AFA summer seminar because that offer came first. Is there a way that she might be able to switch to a later session in NASS? She called out to the offices in admissions today. There is talk about a waiting list for a different session. Has anyone ever been on this waiting list and accepted? Anyone have any experience in this area? Thanks!

Last year my son was put on a waiting list for NASS 2011, though for a different reason than your DD's. At that time it was explained to us that USNA knows there will be schedule conflicts or changed preferences and slots will become available. After being on the wait list for less than a month, he received his invitation to NASS 2011. But it looks as if you were proactive by calling the folks at admissions. We have always found the people there to be very helpful and encouraging. No one should ever be shy about calling them.
Cheers and Good Luck

Letter finally arrived.

Session 2.

Good luck to those still waiting.

DD will be attending NASS session 3. She will also be going to AFA summer seminar session 1 and USMA SLS session 2. Busy month for her!

My DD just got her session for NASS changed to session 3. She will also be at the AF summer seminar first session. So excited for all! My son, who is at USNA as a 3/C, says he will also be around doing training during this time, so it would be nice if DD could see her brother from a far. :thumb:
