If history, as reported here, holds true, we should be hearing about NASS offers any minute now.

If we get a split offer, that will be difficult since both of my boys are "warming up" to the opportunity.

Help me out again please, are the applicants notified for NASS initially by email or letter?

My son did not receive any email notification for NASS last year. He applied on Feb. 1st and received an acceptance letter in the first week of April.

I started reading these forums just over a year ago and it seemed that only a few people reported receiving letters in March, and a lot more received their letters in April. My son had a strong application, but we live in a competitive area of Georgia - you never know what may help/hinder you getting accepted to Summer Seminar and there is nothing you can do about your geographic location. Remember that Summer Seminar is largely a recruiting tool (geographic, diversity, etc.) and as has been repeated numerous times on these boards ... many people do not get into Summer Seminar, but go on to get an appointment. Do not give up if you don't get accepted for NASS!

Good luck with the waiting! Remember that the recent bad weather has put the Admissions Board a bit behind (a BGO reported that they were now meeting twice a week just to try and review all the 2014 applications by April 15th http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=10891 ) and so it won't be surprising if the Summer Seminar acceptances are also a bit delayed this year.

    Where in GA are you?

I'm in the 5th district, from what I hear it is one of the less competitive districts in GA. I'm thinking that the appeal to go to an academy doesn't hit the demographic of the 5th district. It goes from Druid Hills down to College Park. I live in Sandy Springs and I am barely at the cutoff for 6th district...so I guess I got lucky!

I've applied to SLS, AFSS, NASS, and just have to write the statements for AIM. I got into AFSS, rejected from SLS...and waiting on NASS. USNA is my top choice, and USMMA is my second.

We are in the 6th district - live in Apharetta and son goes to Milton High School. Marietta (very strong) is also in the 6th district. Also, quite a few of the schools have JROTC programs (not Miton, though) - definitely adds to the Service Academy awareness/interest.

Son has USNA and USMA appointments. One boy from his school has USAFA appointment, another still waiting to hear from USAFA, and a Milton football player we know has got into NAPS. He thinks there are a couple of others still waiting to hear from USMA. We know of at least two juniors who have applied to USNA Summer Seminar and are passionate about USNA.

Congrats on getting into AFSS and good luck with everything!

Thanks for posting that link. I have a feeling it's going to take a little longer for acceptances to go out. We got tons of snow here and so many places were closed for several days even in Annapolis. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have a very anxious son. He is already going to AF SS.

    Offer vs Rejection

Do they send rejection emails along with emails that offer a spot in NASS?

It is still early to hear about NASS. Really. Two years ago, DD did not hear about NASS until mid to late March (I believe it was 21 March). That year they did not have as many total applications, as NROTC applications were not combined. They also had not had 3 blizzards costing 1-2 weeks of workdays. Admissions at that that was not dealing with applications to the STEM program either. Bottom line: many NASS applicants are likely to be waiting until after the application closes on 1 April before they hear anything. Don't be surprised if you don't hear until as late as 15 April.

I know it's hard to wait, but the good news is that the total wait is only 2-3 months. That seems like a long time now, but it's really not, as those who are waiting for Class of 2014 appointments can attest.

    The downside of twins

    Still nada on NASS?

One made Varsity baseball, the other didn't. Truly bittersweet.

If you live on Long Island, what are your chances of getting accepted, if you put into play the whole geographic residence thing.

What does Long Island have to do with a geographical residency? We live in Maryland so I know my son probably has one strike in the no column.

I hear that next week is spring break at the academy. Does that mean we probably won't hear anything until after the March 22nd?

Pilotmom15: Long Island is a very competitive area within NY so in terms of geographical representation it does matter.

LongIsland81: Unfortunately I can't answer your question. While Long Island is competitive for an appointment, I don't know if that also applies to NASS. It will depend on your application v. the overall number and quality of all other applications from your area and others. Good luck to you.

    LongIsland81,

The NASS dates conflict with NYS regents dates so many juniors with heavy regents requirements can't apply to attend. NYS maybe under represented for this reason (just my opinion).
