I recently applied to both the NASS and the SLE at Westpoint. I was quickly accepted to the SLE but so far have heard nothing about NASS. Im just wondering how much other people have heard or if its still even possible that i was accepted. Im getting worried because i really wanted to go to NASS!!

I was in the same situation a few years ago. SLS accepted me two days after I submitted an application. NASS didn't come until April. Keep waiting.

hmm I'm the opposite. I was quickly accepted into NASS and i'm still waiting for SLE at usma

From the official Naval Academy Admissions Facebook page...

This is just a reminder that Summer Seminar selection is a rolling process. Candidates could be notified of their selection or regrets any time between the day they apply and April 15. If you applied on the first day and still haven't heard anything, it doesn't mean we didn't receive your application. It simply means a decision has not yet been made. We appreciate your patience and understand of this complicated selection process. Best of luck to all of you!

I'm in the same position as OP, I found out about SLS about a week ago and still haven't heard anything about NASS

fingers crossed

but for now I'm still unable to comprehend the fact that I was accepted to SLS I was seriously elated

I got into AFASS but still waiting for USNA's..... hopefully..... praying really hard.

NASS Wait

I think there are many still waiting on NASS...though of course many are already accepted too. Just a waiting game at this point.

Our oldest got in at the Air Force Academy ss and the West Point SLE. BUT...no word yet from NASS.

Just trying to be grateful for the other options and locking in travel plans for Air Force tonight...while still hoping to get NASS.

Funny (or sad) thing is we know of a few that are in at NASS, but did not get into SLE and are still waiting hoping that they will get a spot. One suggested that they switch (ours wants NASS, the others want SLE most!).

Interesting.

DS applied for NASS in January within a day or two of the opening. Received notification for session 2 on 6 March.

He's on the wait list for SLE. I don't know if that's something to hang your hat on or whether there are a lot of candidates on the wait list. Anyone know if any SLE applicants got flat out rejected?

Obviously the single session for SLE makes it a tougher get than for one of the three sessions of NASS this year. Wondering why someone would get SLE then and not NASS yet, unless they just applied later in the process. Seems that if you've got the resume for SLE, surely it would shine just as brightly for NASS.

Here is what the BGO told our kid from the start, in sum:
Her high school and congressional district both have a long, good history with the USNA...plenty of appointments.
In general, qualified kids from her school DO NOT get into NASS. But they DO get USNA appointments. Reason? NASS is a recruitment tool. They have no need to 'sell' USNA to the kids there at her school. The school and BGO walk one or two through the process of applying yearly and can do so again, successfully...without the NASS pitch.

BUT, very few kids from the school have gone to West Point. Almost none go to USGA or USAFA.

Based on that he guessed our kid would get into USAFA ss and USGA AIM...and have a very decent shot at West Point SLE. Reason? They need to get kids from her school (a specialized boarding school) interested in their SAs...they need to recruit. She would only get NASS IF they happened to have room for another girl after highly recruited areas were tapped.

So far, he is right. She got in USAFA ss. She got in SLE. She has not heard yet from USNA, even though she applied early on.

Is his theory accurate? Who knows, but it made sense and is panning out thus far. (Still, she wants NASS because no matter how much her school knows about it and 'places' kids there...she has a need to really 'feel it' for herself before making any decision to apply for an appointment.)

p.s. Keep praying, Jsilv0722...no rejection means you are still in the running! But, don't let go of the bird in the hand with the USAFAss and those forms due tomorrow!

stella : your daughter should push for a Candidate Visit from her Regional Director... many times when they pass over a highly qualified prospect for NASS, they will be open to offering a CVW. A CVW (Candidate Visit Weekend) starts with a briefing on Thursday evening, meet host midshipman, overnight in Bancroft, attend classes with host on Fri, another overnight, morning programs Sat am, and released at Sat noon meal. It is designed for serious prospects and candidates to provide a meaningful experience for them. There is a simultaneous program for any parents who bring their youngsters to USNA. It's worth a try! Best wishes...

Any one gotten into NASS after waiting a long time

We got our app in the first week they opened registration but havent heard anything. There has been one appointment last year but none others we know of from her high school. We also got rejected from Air force. We also send in for AIM. Our daughter really wants to experience a military summer camp, she wants to know if she can handle a DI. My theory, and its a guess, that they are rejecting very few apps and waiting until April 15th, so even if we havent heard positive, there is little chance she will get in if she hasnt gotten in yet. Again, this is a theory with only data points from this forum and from the success rate from our high school to go to NASS, which based on what I have determined is zero since the high school was founded 10 years ago.

Thank you for that encouragement! Yes. We have finished those forms. I am in the same boat as your daughter though. I really wanted USNAss more than all the others. I wanted to just experience what it would be like. But, I am from San Diego, so I'm sure that they get a lot of kids from here that go to USNA. Still praying though

toms663. Air Force waited until the very last day it seems to let everyone know if they were accepted or not.

I put in a NASS application at 2 a.m. on January 17th, 2 hours after the application opened. Haven't heard anything yet. Still waiting. I guess no news is better than bad news. Good luck. :thumb:

I put in my application to NASS about a little over a month ago and heard back the second week of march.
