Hello,

Currently I am a AFROTC cadet 200. With all the budget cuts, SFT is not a guarantee any more. Im not going to ask you what are my chances because quite frankly noone knows. My question is if I do not make it could I go to national guard basic in the summer? More than that, could i qualify for Army scholarships becuase of my two years of being an Air Force cadet?

National Guard and Leaders Training Camp (LTC) are both options for you. You need to stop by the Army ROTC program on your campus and see what they say.

I actually am in the exact same place you are right now, an AS200 thinking about plan B and I talked to the army this morning about your questions. The answer I got was YES! It is not too late to go this summer for the national guard and in fact they were very enthusiastic about me switching over and willing to let my AS100 and AS200 count as MSI and MSII and started talking about scholarships. However this is my school and I'm sure it depends on the department, so if you want to take a look at your options I encourage you to take a walk to the other side of the building and talk to the army rotc. I promise it will make you feel a lot better knowing no matter which way the ball drops when EAs are released, it is not too late to get a commission.
