Well, seeing as some people have gotten their acceptance email. I thought I might take the liberty of starting a "who's going to NASS 2009?" thread. Just copy and paste the text and enter what session you're going to, and anything else you'd like to add. Good luck to all who are still waiting!

Session 1: May 30-June 4

Session 2: June 6-11

Session 3: June 13-18

Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted/ will be! But for those who are not accepted, do not worry about it, not everyone who goes to NASS is accepted to the Academy and tons of people who do not go to NASS are accepted. I highly suggest going to a CVW if can as well- I definitely had an awesome time! And good luck to everyone on the application process- there are some really awesome people on this forum who would be glad to help and know a lot about the process, so do not be affraid to ask for help :)

I'm seeing all of these posts about people who applied the day it came out and already got an email. I applied that afternoon but I haven't heard anything yet so does that mean I didn't get in??

notification?

Will everyone get notified either way?

I should think so. West Point was pretty quick to send me a rejection letter:) So I would think that they'd notify you whether you got in or not.
Remember, if you haven't heard yet, DON'T GIVE UP! Most people get their acceptance letter later than this point. I thought I'd have to wait another couple of weeks at least.

I will be at the 2nd session. Man I am going to be tired! I'm doing the 1st session of SLS, then I immediately go to NASS!!!

If you have'nt heard yet, be patient. They only accept about 600 per session, for 3 sessions.

They send out their first packets, and wait for confirmations. Rejections will be fast. If you don't hear yet, it's likely you are going to get a notification, or you could be on the short list to get notified upon cancellations.

Hang tight, you'll know one way or the other very soon.

i haven't heard anything yet either...from socal

will they be sending out a 2nd wave?

...the wait is killing me.... :)
i've already been accepted to usma's and usafa's summer seminars, but navy is my #1!!!

El Capitan, I had an awesome time going to seminars back to back- I went to NASS and then SLS. It definitely opens your eyes to what each Academy offers and for me, definitely confirmed my previous decision to attend the Naval Academy and CVW just blew it over the top :). I was also accepted to USAFASS but could not attend because of scheduling also, I also decided the AFA was not for me.

Why is it that some have heard early? And others still have not? :(

They went up to 750 per session last year, I think they're still at 750 candidates per session for a total of 2,250 total.

Yep

Max is right. They'll accept 2250 or so this year too.

I'd think they will fill the sessions and are in the process of finding the "best" groups of 750 for each, recognizing that they seek geographic diversity.

Good luck to all, be patient.

I know being patient is important, but just wondering: does anyone know since its rolling, if ALL acceptances have been given at this time, or just the initial ones. It seemed like with usma and usafa they didn't give them all out at one time.

i know all this speculation doesn't do anything. haha

NASS is crucial to complete my summer plans! otherwise i'd have a huge hole between usma and usafa's summer seminars.

THANKS FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT

Good luck to all of you!

I'm headin out on Session 1, sadly, I can't attend Session 2 of SLS (my parent's just ain't gonna let me be away from them that long xD)

Do you think they're all given out? Or are more expected to be sent out?

Why some have heard, and others have not.

Simple really...

1. Not everyone applied at the same time.
2. They want to pick the strongest candidates, so they leave some spots open for strong, but later applicants.
3. Some people offered invitations can't make it, so those get reassigned.
4. There is a limited number of staff working on this, and they are busy, and have other duties besides SS. For example, they are also traveling the country giving presentations at schools, etc.

And I'm sure there are more reasons. So as hard as it is, just be patient, and you'll get notified one way or another as soon as they can.
