Naval Aviator Skills

    Why do U.S. Naval Aviators need to be excellent in skills such as running, swimming, and hand-eye coordination?

    What if your aircraft doesn't work and you're forced to make a landing in some sort of large body of water, your aircraft sinks to the bottom. It could save your life knowing how to swim.

    USAF and USA and USCG aviators...all need this.

    USCG are naval aviators. USN, USMC and USCG all go to Naval Flight School.

    Yes, it is, but this isn't actually my question. I saw it on Yahoo! Answers, and decided to see what people here would think about it.
