Any recommendations for attending the Navy football game at Falcon Stadium… Where to stay? How to get there? Parking? Procuring tickets? Where to sit? What to eat? What else to see while you're there?

I noticed the Navy website has one choice, "Reserved" tickets for $55 plus fees and ordering charge. On the Air Force website you can pick your seats, $50-$80 with no fees or additional charges. What's up with that?

I assume the Naval Academy Athletic Assn, which handles ticketing for the Navy block, gets X tickets at Y rate in Z area, and passes on associated costs with the fees charged to ticket buyer. NAAA is a 501c3 non-profit, which has a major fund-raising element. If they can charge a fee, they will.

You could probably call NAAA ticket office and ask what section Navy fans are seated in - not mids, fans. Then, go back to AF, see what's available near there, understanding you might be the Those People in Navy Blue sitting amongst AF Blue People, but slightly cheaper.

    Edit:

Naval Academy Alumni Assn has a catered tailgater at select away games, which always includes the away AF game. It's always well-attended with good game chow.

    Completely agree with Capt MJ!!!

Come on out to the game and visit Thudgate! You'll get to meet several SA Forum folks...well, you might meet a bunch!! And the fellowship is outstanding!!

As for seats...if you sit with Navy, you'll be on the east side of the stadium...recommend sunscreen and a hat/sunglasses.

According to the Navy ticket office, Navy was allotted sections 24-28 in the lower bowl. The Mids are in sections 27 & 28.

With respect to game day logistics... What is the earliest time we can access the area? When do the pre-game activities (e.g. tailgates, march-on, etc.) start? How crowded will it be? Is it expected to be a sell out? Is there traffic to the stadium? Is parking at the stadium readily available?

    Thanks in advance!

Plenty of parking at the stadium. $10 More than you can imagine.
You can start tailgating and partying at 3:00am if you want to bad enough.
Thudgate Tailgate will start at about 9am. Stop on by.
Actual entrance into the stadium, is probably around 11:00am
Cadets march on, Parachuting entrance, flyover between 1:00-1:25pm
    Kickoff at 1:30
Very crowded. (Air force vs Navy/Army) are always crowded.
Don't try driving on the base after 11:00am unless you like traffic jams. Get in before 10am and tailgate.

Hey Capt MJ, any more information that can be gotten here? I am joining a USAFA parent and travelling to the game. I want to treat him to a real tailgate, Navy style!!! Also, if there are tickets necessary or paying some way to help out, I'd love to know how.

    Go Navy! BEAT Air Force!!!

I would not delay and jump on the USNA Alumni Assn site (link above) to see if the big Navy tented tailgater can still be purchased. It closes down some X hours before every game. I think - not sure - CO USNA Parents Club partners up with that. Might not be a USAFA parent's happy place!

I hope you stop by Thudgate above to meet SAF family members.

I will stop by the Thudgate! Haven't been to a Navy v. Air Force game in Colorado in over 25 yrs!!! Excited!!!

But yes I just logged onto the alumni site and it appears closed. But you can do limited walk-ins. I may try and connect with Colorado group...

Not as good as previous years out of USNA for USNA-USAFA, here's a Spirit Video posted a few days ago, followed by past classics:

Many of the mids involved in the recent classics have graduated, but there is a great tradition and plenty of creative minds around the Yard.

For those new to the SA environment, have some fun on YouTube and search on ["Service Academy name] spirit video," "Army-Navy Spirit Video," and you will pull up years of them, from various SAs. If you think Academy life is all work and no play, you are underestimating thousands of creative, intelligent, tech-savvy minds penned up together who cherish the humorous moments that tie them together.

And because it's never too early to feel A-N spirit, here's a digression into one of my favorites. I enjoy the fact the Chief of Naval Operations, the Supe and the Dant all had appropriate roles.

My hair is still being blown about by the swing of the football pendulum as it went by headed toward AF at the game today. Sigh.

The de-watering evolution has already commenced. There's always next time.

    Some formidable talent at AF.

Capt MJ: Maybe you need to wear more of those Capezio Hairpins you recommend! :)

Seriously though, the TV announcers mentioned that NFL scouts were present to watch AF SS Weston Steelhammer (a great football name if there ever was one!) IMHO, AF WR Jalen Robinette may also be getting an NFL look.

Excellent win for Air Force. Good to see my brother Steve (flieger) and the rest of the Thudgate family. A few forum visitors was also great. We had a great special toast for a fallen brother. His family was there. We had many distinguished guests all the way up and down the Air Force chain of command. It was the perfect tailgate and game.
