My awesome daughter has Had her application in since June. Still no word. Is there a special Nurse board or have all of you other awesome kids been getting any good news. Just Curious. I thought she was pretty competitive. 28 act, Class President, NHS, Varsity Tennis, Mission trip, Blah Blah. Hope we hear soon either way.

I do know there is a special nursing board. I do not know how many or when they might meet. I'm sure one of our current nursing midshipmen will chime in with more details.

    No news is good news?

Judging by the lack of responses I assume that many Nurse applicants have yet to get any Scholarship news. I checked with Marquette NROTC about two weeks ago and the Freshman Counselor told me that they had 5 slots for nursing and none had been filled yet. It would be interesting to hear from anyone that has been awarded a nursing Scholarship and what were there Quals.

I won't pretend to know anything about how the Navy runs thier program. however, my daughter is an MSII Nursing major in Army ROTC. I can tell you that we were told by (2) separate PMS' that if she wasn't chosen for a "regular" scholarship, there was money set aside just for nursing majors that the schools could request specifically for somebody they wanted in thier program.

Luckliy, we didn't need it :thumb:

Unfortunately Navy doesn't work that way. You can apply Navy Option, Marine Option, or Nursing. You must pick one. There is not two bites at the Apple.

I think what K2rider was saying when they mentioned "Regular Scholarship" was that if their daughter had not been selected for the Regular National Nursing Scholarship that there was money set aside for the battalin to offer an On Campus Nursing Scholarship.

The Army works the same way as the Navy, if you want the Nursing Scholarship then that is what you need to apply for.

Well you can actually do nursing under a line scholarship. I remember a few years back some prospective cadets who knew wanted to be officers in some fashion but were not sure if they could get into the nursing programs applied for line scholarships and declared pre-nursing as their major. If they eventually were accepted into the SON they transferred the scholarship to a nursing specific allocation. If they were unable to get into the school they stayed with their line scholarship and switched majors. Not sure how relevant this is today though.
