Hi I am a hopeful candidate for a service academy in the future and wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations for military books for someone my age. I have read the few super popular books like Unbroken, American Sniper, and Lone Survivor. I also have read Once an Eagle and Absolutely American and some others and wanted to know anyone other good book recommendations. Thanks!

For anyone interested in being an officer, the experiences of a young US Army lieutenant in Afghanistan were described in the autobiography "
The Unforgiving Minute: A Soldier's Education" by Craig Mullaney. He also tells of his childhood, his years at West Point, family problems, girlfriends, as well as his initially being overwhelmed by being assigned a combat command and, later, feeling as more comfortable in the field in Afghanistan than back at home in the States or even when he gets a promotion to the "rear".

A tremendous read.

"Once an Eagle" by Anton Myrer.
It speaks a LOT to leadership.
