New Cadets/Rising Plebes...check in!

Tell us all about it!

What was your happiest moment?
Either finding out I maxed my APFT run, or passing my SAMI today with only one gig.

What was your moment of deepest despair?
During Night Land Nav in the second week, I tripped in the middle of a thicket of thorn bushes and lost my knowledge book, map, and protractor. I'd never felt so desperate before.

What made you know this is for you?
The overall feeling of accomplishment, I guess. I can't really pinpoint one moment.

What made you second guess yourselves?
Trying to pass off knowledge on R-Day. I thought the yelling wouldn't faze me at all -- I was wrong. And then the guy next to me was passing off knowledge left and right. I didn't know at the time that he was a Prepster and had already had those particular pieces of knowledge for a year.

What was your happiest moment?
Everytime I accomplished something was my happiest moment. Everything was new to me so seeing what I could do was a huge deal for me.

What was your moment of deepest despair?
During rappelling I got stuck and was hanging upside down. I'm not a fan of heights so I have never been more terrified or upset in my life.

What made you know this is for you?
After the Hyde challenge my squad and I were on top of the mountain we had to climb and we were looking around and I knew that I could never go back to what I had before and I never wanted to.

What made you second guess yourselves?
There was a lot of that going on this summer. The key was to force myself to remember why I chose to come here. I would second guess myself, but I never once wanted to leave.

Speaking of that..can CC's share their CCBT experiences?

What was your happiest moment?
Passing Land Nav in the rain without a protractor
What was your moment of deepest despair?
Getting a c first detail, I tought I performed better than that.

What made you know this is for you?
My buddies, here, the camaraderie is crazy here
What made you second guess yourselves?
The running, I haven't ran this much in my life, but I made it so I guess im stronger for it.

Congratulations to each one of the former New Cadets. And thanks for posting your comments as they're great for current candidates and parents to read. We're proud of what you've already accomplished and look forward to hearing more about your experiences during academic year. You'll continue to have challenges but you know you can meet them.

If there are any D-4 Dukes out there, that was my daughter's (2009) company for all 4 years.

And Beat Navy!
