I just discovered this forum last week upon my son's appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy! I joined last night (3-25-14) because I have already found the information and encouragement to be invaluable. I am confident I will be reading/posting constantly over the next several years and look forward to the connections along the way.
 
Welcome!!! Please ask plenty questions as I'm sure you are thinking of ideas, concerns, and issues that I have not thought about!

My son is a 2018 AFA appointee too. There is a wealth of information & help here. Don't be shy about asking!

Welcome and congratulations!!! If any of you are on facebook, feel free to request to join the parents group, either both or one of them, USAFA Parents Resource Group, or My Life is a Cadet Parent Page. I agree with all of you there an abundance of information that is gained on this forum. My DS is a C3C at USAFA and I still find myself coming back to this forum for information. I don't think I could have gotten through the entire process so far without this forum. I've met some wonderful people through this forum as well. Good Luck to you and your families. Hold on to your seats, this is the beginning of a wild roller coaster ride. Enjoy it and don't be afraid to ask questions!! We are all here to help each other out!!!:welcome1:

Same here my DS received his appointment last week. Does anyone know when induction day is and if there are activities for parents on that day. Also where is a good hotel to stay during I-day and parents weekend?

Check the portal. There is a link for Appointees Guide. Has most everything you need in it, including travel and visitation info.

It's good to hear the positive responses. I will definitely have many questions Thanks for encouraging me to ask! My DS and I are reading a lot and getting our questions ready, so look out over the next few weeks! Seems like he worked so long and so hard to achieve his dream of an appointment to the USAFA. Hard to believe its really here! Thanks again and congratulations to all appointees. Prayers and best wishes to those still waiting.
