New Navy Warship

The LCS has been a big headache for the U.S. Navy. There are two versions of it. I've been on one, pretty cool, but still a headache.

LCS-1 Freedom? That is the only other one I know about. Totally different design and profile.

Correct. Probably....5 or 6 months ago it pulled into Alexandria, VA, just outside of Washington, DC. Anything that size pulling 50 kts is very impressive.

USS FREEDOM lcs1
prototype for Freedom class lcs
commissioned 8 nov 2008
mono hull

USS INDEPENDENCE lcs2
prototype for Independence class lcs
christened 4 oct 2008
undergoing sea trials
tri hull

If you stood the hulls straight up and put them at Kennedy which one could be the next shuttle?

That would have to be lcs2 it has the better thrust to weight ratio and increased surface area for stability.

So glad you concur, However the forward deflector shields aren't effective above warp 8 and at warp 10 it will be nearly impossible to fire photon torpedoes. A small technical problem we are working on.:thumb:
