My DD received her new SAT scores and not much of an improvement. 1200. I know they're not competitive enough for direct admissions so she's hoping for Prep school. Other then her test scores, which are very important, she has everything else. Girls State Attendee, 4.12 gpa with many AP classes, varsity sports, letters, SB president, etc. Any thoughts?

Is she going to take them again on Nov 5th or Dec 3rd? My DD was disappointed in hers as well, regarding Math anyway. She had a 60 point increase in her Verbal score putting her well above the average, but not a point in Math (when she thought she had done so much better than last time in that area). She has MOC interviews on 11/5 so has to wait to take again in December to see if she can focus on pulling Math up and get it above average as well.

@Mere2033 - For an AOG prep school offer, she would have to be academically DQ'd, which is doubtful.

Have her take the ACT. She may do better on it. Most students do better on one than the other.
If financially possible, get her into a prep class for the ACT. Often, it is just knowing how to take the test.
At the least, get a 'How to take the ACT' type book, study that and take the practice tests.

With a 4.12 GPA, she is plenty smart, but test scores are uber important. She should do whatever she can do to study/prep for the ACT.

Do the SAT again as well but be sure to prep. Again, if a tutor is not available, try some online prep. There is a method to taking these. You don't always have to know the answer. Frequently some possible answers can be eliminated. When my son was doing his I started doing some prep. I was amazed at how poorly I did at first and I did a 1470 back in the day. After (re)prepping for a while I did much better

And remember, the Academy super scores the results so if she performed poorly on a particular subject, she can focus on improving just that subject on the next test and that will improve her score.
