in the Army, the USMA Superintendent is usually a very senior LTG who has to retire upon completion of the assignment. Does the Airforce normally due this or do they usually promote MGs into the position?

This will be Michelle's retirement assignment. She'll pin on the third star, stay SUPT for 3-4 years and then retire.

And she'll do VERY well in this role! I've known her off/on since I was a cadet (she was two classes ahead of me) and during active duty.

Cadets will either love her or not...very little "grey area" in folks I've known that have worked with Michelle. I happen to not always agree with her but have NEVER questioned her passion, her intelligence (borderline genius), or her desire to excel and help others do the same.

She has lived the AF Core Values before they were the core values.

    She'll do USAFA proud! :thumb:

By law, Supes at USMA, USNA, and USAFA all have to retire after serving in that position.

Might also apply to USCGA and/or USMMA as well, but I'm not sure of that.

USCGA's supe position is generally a Rear Admiral (upper half), although 1 and 2 star positions are the same.

And generally it's a terminal position, meaning they retire after it.
