News from a new cadet.

Bad assumption that anyone leaving Beast now "couldn't cut" it.

I agree very bad assumption. Some people just figure out this isn't where they are supposed to be, and its a lot better for them to figure that early on and leave then to go through a year, two years, heck even all four years and commission, if this is not the life or responsiblity they thought they wanted

Thank you, I agree

That's a wonderful job of taking completely different discussion (one about the quality of your average recruit, not about WP), removing the context, and pretending it compares. When West Point drops the standard for incoming cadets to a point where they accept almost anyone, including those who are obese, lack a HS diploma, and cannot pass a basic fitness exam, you'll have a point. But the fact is quite the opposite. West Point and the other SAs are accepting candidates who meet the most encompassing and rigoruous standards in the Academies' histories.

Now, what the academies DO with those kids after they get them is a separate topic we can debate ad nauseum. But the fact remains that USMA has a huge pool from which to select the best. They do a fine job of that, and I don't think anyone here has anything but personal reasons to feel otherwise.

We get it, RockyB. You have an ax to grind because your kid wasn't accepted.
Your continual bashing of anyone and anything you think prevented your
progeny from becoming a cadet is pretty old already and makes me wonder
why you're still hanging around here. Is it just to kvetch?

Rocky B is not a parent he is a cadet candidate who apparently didn't get accepted this time around.

I apologize, my comment might have been a bit harsh but, kid, you really need to curb the attitude a bit, this isn't facebook.

As far as the "Likewise" comment, I'm not even sure what that means, I hung up the bars on my shoulders a long time ago.

I'm sorry you did not get an appointment this year, I'm sure the other 1360 Qualified Applicants who didn't get appointments wish things had turned out differently as well. Not that you'll take the advice, but you really need to concentrate your efforts on moving forward.

I believe I noted my "couldn't cut it" remark was off base. You can believe it or not but I didnt mean it the way it came across. OK this is where I get a "Riiiiight" reply. What I find strange/funny/concerning is how quickly you and others go to the WP dodged a bullet, scorned applicant, bitter parent, remarks when someone disagrees with you. Apology accepted.

Not sure where you made that clear.

My comment had nothing to do with disagreeing with you, it had to do with calling someone "Sad"

But Hey, have a great time posting whatever you want, and good luck with what ever do. For now, you just don't get the advice people have given you.

I'm sorry to have made an immature comment that started such an uproar. I withdraw my remarks and do understand I spoke out of place. Like many have said before me, I have no place judging those who have decided WestPoint isnt for him/her, im just a jealous reject. Sorry again for my comment.

No one is going to those remarks "quickly." As I mentioned before, a simple stroll through your posts shows a habitual and ongoing theme of griping about WP admissions and how you & yours didn't get what you wanted out of the system. Don't act like people are accusing you of being a bitterly disaffected person because you disagreed with them. We're accusing you of that because that's who and what you act like in your posts.

Reject, no...

As with any forum/chatroom, some communication may get lost or misinterrpreted when it is not in person, face to face. If, as you say, you are jealous, I can accept your self assessment as an indicator of a level of honesty and maturity. But to include, as you say again, reject, is a bit harsh. My guess is you are qualified and under normal circumstances would have been accepted into WP. But these aren't normal times and there were others who were accepted ahead of you as billets ran out. If you still desire WP, do what you can to move up in the applicant pool and don't let anyone or anything deter you from your goal. Good luck to you...cheers.

The information is incorrect. By the time of transfer from CBT 1 to CBT 2 there were less than 6 dropouts. By the end of CBT the number was about 25. I say about becuase some new cadets pulled their request to resign. I recommend "never believe the first report" -- it is a good policy. New Cadets should stick to what they know, like "the definition of leather" and other things of consequence. BEAT NAVY!

So how do you like West Point now that the summer training is over? Are academics hard? Do you still like it? You seem motivated, that is great. I am thinking about West Point myself.
