My son, class of 2014, applied online for an NFCU account. He used home address as mailing address (home of record). Just received a letter from NFCU requesting that he FAX his student/military ID and SS card to them. I spoke with member services and they are sticking by their request. There is a branch on campus, but they would not connect me with the branch office. I just want to know if my son can visit that branch office in Jones Hall in person to complete his application. Would they have the capability to verify that indeed my son is there although technically is only a "candidate". I don't know when they receive their ID's. Certainly, there must be a way around this. Anybody help?

Last year, even though we already had a NFCU account for him, he had to change his address to his KP address. The account number stayed the same and I still had access online since we were both on the account. If your DS went into the branch at Jones Hall, I'm sure someone could help him out.

Yep, have him go to the branch at Jones Hall. I am sure they can help him. My DS set up his account prior to heading for Indoc - he used is orders and letter of appointment to verify along with SS and that worked for him.

Also, parents, you should make sure at least one of you is on the account with your DS/DD. Doing so will make it much easier to assist your DS/DD both while they are on campus and during sea year. Look for the NFCU representative on Parents Weekend offering to sign you up as a joint account holder. Last year they were in Wiley Hall near where we picked up registration packets.

Definately have him go to the branch in Jones hall - he might not be able to get there until INDOC is over. While it might make certain things easier, if he doesn't put you on the account - assuming you have access to an actual NFCU branch vice just phone access - don't worry too much as you can always make deposits at the branch into his account and if you deposit cash at your local branch, it's immediately available for his use/withdrawl anywhere in the world where he has access to an ATM...
