I am currently a Junior (attended Session II of NASS) and I was just informed that my NJROTC Instructor is going to give me the NJROTC Nomination. Will it help me that I have a nomination so early in the application process? I heard that only a certain number of these NJROTC Noms actually get the Appointment, is this true? Basically I need to know if I should still definitely apply to my other sources for nominations or if I can just not worry about nominations anymore. Any help and information is greatly appreciated!

Definitely apply to all other nomination sources. Only twenty appointments will be given on a JROTC nomination. How many JROTC cadets did you meet at your one session of NASS alone?

I don't actually know. No one really said whether they were in JROTC or not but I'm sure there were quite a few! I will just continue on with my Congressional/Senatorial/VP applications then.

Don't know this from my own experience, but I believe there are NJROTC units with citations that can nominate directly - those count the same as a congressional or senatorial nom. If your unit has one of those, you might not need another.

It helps that you have a nomination, albeit very competitive, but I second the recommen-dation that you continue your efforts to earn a nomination from one of your MOC's.

We are a distinguished unit. I'll make a few calls today and try and see exactly what the deal is. Thanks!

MCJROTC and NJROTC units all have three nominations each. MCJROTC and NJROTC Distinguished Units have three additional nominations. AFJROTC and AJROTC units with distinction have three nominations each.

All nominations count the same. The difference is the quota cap on NJROTC nominations. 20 is a very small number to be counting on. There could be five other guys your SNSI nominates from your school alone.
