Quick question. Say i failed to get into USMMA and decided to do the prep program at NMMI. Following that i get good grades/ect, Am i gurranteed an appointment? Is that only if USMMA sends you there or if you choose to go there or both? I would need to get another nomination, correct?

Thanks!

No you wouldn't be guaranteed an appointment. Many non-service academy prep schools, not NAPS or West Point's Prep School etc., say that have a 90+% appointment rating. There is some chance you might not get appointed. You would have to get a nomination again, you cannot get an appointment without one. There are programs that all service academies use to send prospects to prep schools other than their own prep school. Usually, however, you cannot apply for it, you are more or less chosen for it, similar to the fact that you cannot directly apply for any of the service academies' prep schools. You may want to read exactly what those type of schools actually offer, from NMMI's website. Also, Valley Forge Military is another one that has a service academy prep program.

Saul,

The USMMA uses NMMI as their only Prep School. Years ago they used NAPS but for a number of reasons switched to us. If you are sent here by the USMMA as a sponsored Prep and meet all the terms of your contract with the USMMA, your chances for an appointment are extreamly high. As said above - there is never a guarantee. If you come here as a "Self Prep" or "Free Agent" you still have a shot at an appointment, but not like the sponsored Preps. All our sponsored Preps come to us with prior nominations. You will have to reapply for your nom, retake the CFA, and reaccomplish your Parts 1, 2, and 3 for the USMMA.

I can explain this over the phone better. Please call after 3 Jan 11.
