No Appointment or TWE....just Crickets

From Kansas with news from USAFA. I did call and found out the Board was meeting today and hoping for good news tomorrow or Friday! Just remember this is quite an honor to be still considered a candidate this late in the game; was told there just isn't enough vacancies/slots. A lot of those that got TWE's would gladly trade to be in this spot. Just saying.

Great point! Just made my night! Now all that's left is a "Good morning and congratulations you've been accepted into the United States Air Force Academy!" letter in our portals:D

Admissions told me a week ago to tell DS not to miss the college May 1st deadline for plan B. That is also the day the appointments have to be accepted by...so as the refusals come in, more appointments will go out. This waiting is torture.

I hope that many of you will get picked up later on, but please remember that the SAs always offers more appointments than the expected class size for IDay. Usually about 250 more than they expect to report, thus the reason they are saying to go onto plan B because they do know that last minute appointments can happen, but it is not statistically alot.

Thank you for all of the updates and good luck to all.

Sorry to hear that. Plan B sounds a lot better a couple days after NSD (Non-Select Day).

I am Active Duty military currently so I don't really have a plan B lol. I am already going to school online so I guess I was already doing plan B?
I just spoke with USAFA admissions and they said everyone will know by the end of next week definitely. I was told my DD is still listed as candidate and still being looked at for a spot and to watch her portal. The waiting is torture. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

I was hoping I would hear something this week. On Friday my DD's friend received his TWE, and we are in the same district.

I would always recommend that the Applicant/Candidate contact Admissions vs. the parents. I know parents want to help, especially that students have limited time being in school, but it was strongly recommended to us early in the process that only the Applicant should ever contact the Academies.

Don't take offense, but you just told us that YOU spoke to admissions. That does not bode well for the applicant. Admissions won't ever be impressed by moms that call in to check on a status. I know, you had a good reason, so does everyone
The academies love kids that chart their own course. Relying on mom to figure it out isn't impressive. Of course your kid didn't tell you to call, in fact, probably didn't even know you called. She's just so busy... right?
They all are. Sometimes parents want it more than the kids. Not chastising, but it is a good time to remind applicants to make their own calls. Believe me, parents won't influence admissions, not positively anyway.

Nothing yet from KS-but would like to say that you don't have to be intimidated by USAFA. I was the first time around with our oldest who graduated a few years ago; so proud! Anyway once you have been a part of this special place you will find it has the nicest people I have ever had the privledge to meet; including the cadets, teachers, and staff. They all become part of a very small family that the cadets and their families are a part of forever. We keep in touch still with our son's sponsor family and also invited his LO to the graduation and that meant so much to him; no cadet had ever invited him. When the LO came out to the Academy every year they would always get together with another cadet from KS and eat supper. Our son really enjoyed that. What I'm saying is Moms, you don't have be afraid of calling your child's counselor-if they are agreeable. We've rarely called-only on very important things; and ours said we had a valid question about his status!
General Abrams once told our Academy Ball in Kansas City that he wanted to thank the Moms! He knew that most of these kids wouldn't have made it to the Academies without them-So Moms Rock! Keep up the support-from Dad's, etc, too; your won't believe how much they need to talk to someone back home when the cold, windy, dark days come-especially after Christmas in January. The cadets have a name for it but I can't remember it. So good luck everyone-us included!!!!
