No more Cookie Cafe!!!!

Unfortunately, this is what happens when "conditions" are placed on good deeds. People get their feelings hurt, people hear and read contradictory things, people start to take sides, etc. It's a real shame. Glad to see "Cookie Cafe" may well continue, but if so, there should be absolutely ZERO religious connection in any shape or form. There is a chaplaincy program on campus with a leader and a leadership structure. "Volunteer" ministers are not needed unless they fully agree to comply with existing regulations and willingly support the leadership team.

I am 100% certain that the Guests were and are great people with only the very best of intentions regarding Kings Point and its Midshipmen at heart, and would not knowingly do anything to usurp the authority of those in charge at the Academy. However, they seem to have made the correct decision for both themselves and for Kings Point in deciding to bow out after deciding that they could not operate as they wished within the current guidelines. I see this as a decision by the Guests. That's the thing about volunteerism. You are free to stop when you feel it in your best interests to do so or when the situation changes such that you feel you can no longer volunteer.

I, for one, am very thankful for all the time, energy and funds the Guests put in supporting the Midshipmen of Kings Point. And, I am pleased that Cookie Cafe may well continue, but under the guidance of the Parents Association.

God speed to the Guests. May you find a new place to continue your ministry.

Something tells me there is a place or a group of people with a greater need ready to appear. I hope they find it soon. When I can't keep a door open it is usually because the open window behind me ( that i can't see) is blowing the door shut. Turn around.

Then I usually bite the hand of the person to is trying to feed me this nugget of nice.
Even though they are usually right.

Why am I suddenly thinking of Stewart Handy?

We did not decide to "bow out". We did not quit, we were made to leave."

I do not know who started to rumor that there was proselytizing going on at Cookie Cafe. That is false. Anyone involved with Cookie Cafe will testify to that.

Here is what we were told. We are religious, therefore we must be proselytizing at Cookie Cafe, therefore we should not be involved at Cookie Cafe. Since there is no prostletizing going on at Cookie Cafe, it must be that we are disqualified from continuing what we started 5 years ago, because we are religious. Every time I turn on the TV I see the Presidential Candidates all stating what religion they are. Will that disqualify them from running for Presidential office?

I personally think this is a disgrace and there is a name for this type of thing.

That being said, I have been working hard along with the ladies to put everything in place and find people to handle all the jobs. I am doing my part to ensure that Cookie Cafe continues for the students. That is why I started it, and I want to see it continue. It is a great morale booster for the mids.

And there is a problem with politics.
Spirituality is a concept, religion is man- made just as justice is a concept and law is man made. (albeit necessary)
Take the politics out of governing and the religion out of politics.

My bumper stickers for the day. Now if you will excuse me I have a tree to hug!
And yes, the sky is always blue in my world!
Steely eyed realist? Not so much
