Hey all, Illinois applicant here. I've seen and heard about some offers going out. A friend of mine was awarded the NROTC scholarship (not MO). Is it bad I haven't hear anything? Would it be worth emailing my OSO? Thanks!

My DS is waiting to hear the results of the February Board for Marine Option. I called the number on the NROTC web site last Friday and talked to someone at Quantico. I was told that scholarship decisions have been made, but the folks in Pensacola are now making school selection decisions. Candidates should be notified of scholaraship and school assignment by April 1, or pretty close to it. The woman also stated that your recruiter could tell you unofficially if you've been awarded the scholarship but would not have information on placement.

Well that's good to hear. My recruiter isn't very communicative so it's not surprising I haven't heard from him. Maybe emailing my OSO would be the best bet.

Hopeful: I know you are anxious to hear and these recent announcements aren't helping.

I would not email the OSO - but that is just one guy's opinion. The final boards were conducted and some OSO's notified folks. Your OSO may have chosen to do so, or he may have decided to allow the "official" process to run its course. Same with your local Recruiter. You will know either way in a week or so.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I actually had a couple questions about the process, so I think I will email my OSO. I'm not going to ask him if I got it or not. The recent announcements are killer indeed.

NROTC scholarships show up in the portal (DS got an email last year notifying him to check the portal) so hopefully it shows up there soon! Good luck.

Hopeful for a call today, and it also depends if they want to tell you early or not. Im in Mass and i havent seen anyone get one from Mass yet

My DS just got a call from his OSO stating that he was selected for a scholarship but that decisions on schools have not been made yet. This is consistent with what I heard when I called Quantico last week. Best of luck to all of you.

Congratulations. Being in PA myself and having not received a call, I suppose I know what this means.

Good luck to everyone who still has yet to hear.

I'm not sure why all this geography discussion? I thought these scholarships have nothing to do with where you live and are distributed on merit alone. Correct Kinnem?Or are you talking about getting notifications from your local recruiting officers? My son is in PA and he got notified by an email alone. No call from anyone. Then his packet took almost a month to get here.

BBurns, try not to get too discouraged. I really don't know how the process works, but I wouldn't assume that everyone has been notified. Also, I would think there will be a fair number of candidates who get the scholarship but don't take it, opening up some slots. Best of luck to you.

My DS's numbers were as folows: 4.01 GPA, 1250 SAT, 288 PFT.

I got my rejection letter in the mail on Friday. I'm from Wisconsin.

Glad I didn't get a scholarship that I wouldn't use though!
