My DS did not receive a nomination from MOC/Senators but has not received a TWE......MOC only assigns a candidate one nomination to one Academy (rec'd USNA nom). Applied for VP nom as well. Are TWE's slow in being mailed?

It seems to me your DS would not even be considered for admission with the regular pool of candidates since he didn't receive a nomination. I would not expect a TWE, since his file is not complete.

There may be some delay based on the the VP nom, which historically comes in very late in the process. Eventually, if that doesn't come through, your DS will get a file closure letter, possibly only to his portal. Not so much a TWE because DS was not qualified without a nomination.

I guess there is a chance he could get a Superintendent nomination. It's a long shot but a better chance than VP. The Superintendent by statute can nominate up to 50. Usually those are athletes or are used to round out the class demographically. The VP nomination only goes to 5, and thousands apply. Until DS has a TWE in hand, there's hope. My DS is a second-time successful applicant, and last year his TWE didn't come until well into May. Keep up the faith! Good luck to your DS.

Well, could they even still be considering USMAPS for him? Thats a good chance too if he meets all the physical and medical portions and is on the line with ACT scores or class rank

NO Nomination, No. TWE - My DS recently contacted his admissions counselor and it looks like his file is incomplete without a nomination.....a applicants chance of a VP nomination is 1 in 15,000 will receive an offer. I did not get the impression USMAPS is an option. He was told he has a strong file & should apply next year.

15000 is not the number of qualified candidates it's the amount that open files, but yes the nomination chance of VP is so small.

USMAPS is for "red shirted" athletes, prior service, and candidates who are not academically where they should be. AOG (aka prep) is for academically sound, but not quite the total package. There are exceptions of course, but generally this is how it shakes out. When my DS didn't get in last year, he asked RC about both of those options and was told that he just needed to go to a civilian school and reapply. Those slots are few and far between, so don't think they are there for the picking if you happen to get a TWE. Please have a solid plan B, C, and D.
