On a topic completely unrelated to the military: one of my all time favorite ball players and my wife and son's absolute idol- Nomar Garciaparra signed a one day contract with the Red Sox today so that he could retire :frown:from the Red Sox.
Number 5 - you are still "the Man"!:thumb: (and good luck with those twin girls!)
& this year- like every year is a Red Sox year and the Yankees will be where they belong- drinking pond water !) (Now if only the Cubs could join them atop the sporting world- what a series- Fenway vs Wrigley!)

The 36-year-old Garciaparra spent the first nine seasons of his 14-year career in Boston, where he developed into a fan favorite, a perennial All-Star and the best shortstop in team history. He won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 1997 and won batting titles in back-to-back seasons in 1999 and 2000. His career average with the Red Sox stands at .323, with 178 homers and 690 RBIs.

If I say, "GO YANKEES!", will I get banned?

Yeah! Go Red Sox!

To be honest I havn't watched baseball in so long but it's sad to see a great player go!

The one day contract was kind of funny but awesome. I wonder if he got paid.

me too. Love, love, love him.
I saw this today and it gave me goosebumps. Thanks for posting Bruno!

Born in the Bronx and now live in an area that is half Red Sox half Yankee. Makes for some interesting conversations at the barbershop. Still a Yankee Fan for fifty five years. Giants same thing even if they moved across the river. Saw both play in Yankee Stadium. :thumb: Garciaparra was always a class act. Good luck to him.

As a born and bred Red Sox Fan, as well as having increased the population of "The Nation" by raising my four boys as RSFans, I couldn't have been more thrilled than by today's actions of Nomar and the Red Sox. He is one classy guy!!! Thanks for the memories Nomar!!!
