    Hello everyone!

I browsed through the forum and found that some people have already completed their nomination interviews and have already gotten notifications of their nomination. I received a LOA early October but have not received any news from my congressman and senators. I've called them several times to update my application and ask questions but no news. When will I get a call for an interview, and when will I find out whether I got a nomination or not? Is it possible that I am not being considered for a nomination!?

I would personally go into the office and ask, most members of congress have already had interviews, but they are not required to let the academies know who they appoint until the end of January.

Some MOCs do not interview. When you called did you ask if they were having interviews? What state are you from?

Some have reported that there MOC did not conduct interviews.
You may want to start a post in the nomination forum, "Oregon Nominations - Anyone get an interview?" or something like that.
You may want to call your MOC and ask if they are interviewing.

You mean some people have said that Oregon's MOCs do not conduct interviews? This is my first time hearing about it! And thank you for the advice, I'll do that right now!

Based off the OR Senator's Service Academy nomination websites, it doesn't appear that either conducts interviews. You might be able to look up your Congressman's requirements at house.gov. I would check the websites before calling, have you been to the MOC's websites before?

You're right - I just compared a California MOC's nomination process and discovered that most will say whether or not an interview is required. I never knew because I had never checked other states' MOC websites before! I will try to call them right now. Thank you so much!

If you checked your MOCs websites and you know the answer...I'm not sure why you need to call the office. If they don't have an interview as a requirement or tell you that a select group will be contacted for an interview...there is no interview.

Good lock bops. Try to not cross the line between appearing eager and appearing desperate or needy. It can be a fine line.

bops98, keep checking your portal. My DD did not receive word from her senators or representative about her NOM. It just appeared on her portal without any fanfare at all. An official letter came in the mail about two weeks after it registered on her portal. Keep the faith.

Yep and here in Washington State only the congressman had interviews, both of our senators do not hold interviews. However, I have been told that the Senators work very closely with the congressman to juggle the noms so that all of those that are worthy get a good shot at an academy.

Sure wish Florida did that. Here you can choose only one SA.

Maryland nominations are the same... they work together(both Senate and Congressmen/Congresswomen) to get the most people into the SA's from Maryland

I would disagree that whatever Senators/Congressperson think they are doing "to get most people into the SA's from Maryland" does not work. Nominating many candidates as possible might have worked when the class size was larger and more candidates were appointed from the National Waiting List. Now with the class size being around 1200, when all the mandated appointments are given out, remaining National Waiting List appointments gets truly competitive so quality matters, not quantity.

I would also argue that sending more candidates into SAs from Maryland looks good on the surface. However, the goal should be to send most qualified candidates to SAs. There was a study showing more qualified candidates (based on WCS) had higher graduation rate than less qualified candidates (based on WCS).

Thank you so much - I think waiting is the most difficult step in the process!

I could only hope that the Maryland Congressional delegation have seen that study and I wish that USNA would actually publish their WCS formula!!!!

You might have a better chance seeing God before that happens.

Not all Maryland congressmen follow that pattern. My representative's office (MD-6) specifically said that they based their nominations upon their own agenda/criteria, with no bearing on the nomination processes of the two senators. They do "double nominate" to one academy.
