Hey guys, I received a nomination from my congresswoman for the USAFA. My top two choices are USAFA and USMA. I was wondering if emailing the senator that I interviewed with and letting them know that I received the nomination or if maybe they knew already? I don't know if two nominations to the same Academy helps but I figured maybe letting them know would be a good thing. Would they possibly find out about it if I don't email them?

Hockey, congrats on the NOM. It is definitely beneficial to have more than one NOM to the same SA. It increases your odds of an appointment. Your senators may or may not know about the rep's NOM and I am not sure why you would want to tell them in the first place, unless you are thinking it may sway things in your favor. I would not call them. If you get two NOMS, great, if not, at least you have the one and that's all you need for an appointment.

Keep in mind that some senators in very competitive states will not give a second NOM if you already have one because they want to give the NOMs out to more candidates. If they don't know and you bring it to their attention, you may not get the results you desire. You really don't have control over that, so I say, just be patient and let the panels do their job. Good luck to you.

Falcons, thank you so much for the reply. I wasn't sure if two nominations to the same Academy would help. I was wondering because if two to the same didn't help than maybe telling them would increase my chance for a nomination to USMA. Thinking I will just let it play out now!
