I earned a nomination from Senator Levin of Michigan on December 16th (date on paper) and received word of it on (I believe) the 23rd. It has been 3 weeks since I won the actual nomination and nearly 2 weeks since i received my official letter from my Senator

Should I contact my liaison now or give it more time?

I understand that these things may take some time, and the holiday season may have delayed the progress significantly, but this is still a considerable span of time..

What would be the most prudent course of action?

Contact your liaison officer. It'll show character and desire!

Was it the principal nomination? If so then be patient, let people catch up on their backlog from the holidays. They'll get the appointment out to you as soon as they can. (I'm assuming You're 3Qed). If it wasn't, then be patient. You may not hear until April 15 it in some cases even later, after perhaps spending some time on the NWL.

So bottom line is be patient. Work on plan B, C, D etc. in the interim. Go have some fun. Work out. Get it off your mind as best you can. :thumb:

    Congratulations on the nomination!

When you say, liaison, I'm not sure who you are talking about - your FFR or the RC - but both will know of your nom.

If it has not shown up on your portal and that is what you are worried about, give it a little more time. You are correct about the holidays may be causing the delay. Also, the Senator may not have turned in the slate yet or turned it in at some point after they contacted you and hence causing more delay in it showing up on your portal.

You are always welcome to contact your FFR or RC with any concerns. If this really is worrying you, go ahead and ask them.

I received official word about 2 weeks ago and my portal isn't updated yet either. If it isn't by the end of January, I might begin to worry.

    M14980,
IF you have a principle appointment (Your Congressman or West Point designated you as his #1 nominee and not just one of 10) AND you are declared fully qualified (3Qd) by West Point you WILL get an appointment - simple as that.
If you are one of the ten nominations from your Senator - and NOT his principle nominee - AND if you are 3Qd you will be put on the National Waiting List. Normally the NWL has about 1700 people in the same position as you - only about 400 or so people are picked from this list.
Call your Regional Admissions Officer and ask him about your status.

    NWL?

My senator uses the competitive slate, so he doesn't declare candidate ranks or select a principal nominee. Just because I wasn't the principal nominee because my senator doesn't even select one doesn't mean I'll end up on the NWL does it? Maybe I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the academy itself would pick and choose from the 10 candidates.

You are correct in regards to a competitive slate.
After all nominees on a competitive slate have completed their files (or after FEB 28, whichever comes first), WP will take the 10 names that your Senator submits and rank order them 1-10 based on each nominee's WCS. The nominee with the highest WCS that is 3Q'd will received the appointment.
The other 9 will go on the NWL.
The Senator has until JAN 31 to turn his slate in.

Buff81: I can testify to the fact that my Senators are waiting until the very last minute to turn their slate in. Their staffers have told me that results won't be released until the very end of January!
