Nomination Status Question

I recently got a nomination from my district congressman and was wondering if this will appear on my application. I'm concerned if I need to call in to my USAFA counselor to update this just to make sure.

In addition, when I received the mail informing me about my nomination, it said that because I received a nomination to USAFA, the Academy will bring each applicant before a Board for approval. Once the Appointment has been made, the Academy will notify my service academy director and she will contact me.

She will be on vacation beginning December 17th and will return after the New Year.

HOWEVER the letter stated, "You MAY know of your appointment before she returns".

So, I'm guessing there's a possibility of receiving an appointment for USAFA BEFORE March/April?

I've already asked this question on this forum, but nobody replied to this yet so I apologize if you've already seen this before.

Don't worry--my status page was updated about three weeks after I got my nomination letter in the mail. Just be patient! :)

Our status pages also say final decisions will not be released til March/April--I think you would only receive an appointment before then if you've already received an LOA.

I'm so glad I got my nomination... one step closer... but I know that this is not a guarantee for an appointment. How do we know if we are got the principal nomination?

Your MOC uses one of three nominations types:
  1. Competitive Nomination
  2. Principal with Competing Alternates
  3. Principal with Numbered Alternates
A staffer at your MOC's office can tell you which nomination type they use. Most MOCs use #1- Competitive. For more details check out this PDF.
