My daughter just got a call from our congressman, they loved her and all her community service, sports and stuff!

They are proud to give her a nomination to the USMMA!!!!

I am so excited... I am still shaking!!:shake::shake::shake:
(I hope moms are allowed to cry!)

congrats to your daughter and you totally earned a deep sigh of relief...and a few tears ... :thumb:

J Collins, Congratulations to your daughter for the nomination to USMMA!!! :yay:

Of Course Moms are allowed to cry!

We just learned two days ago that our son received a Conditional Appointment to the USMMA (pending semester grades and CFA results). I blubbered all afternoon (and I'm not normally the crying type!)

You've been corresponding with my hubby. Son is the boy who shattered both front teeth wrestling.

So, enjoy the emotion of the nomination and Congratulations!

J Collins, Congrats to your daughther!!!!

Congratulations. Be ready to shed a few more tears over the next few months(Indoc day, Acceptance day and a few in between) Most KP moms seem to blame it on the pollen:smile:

Congrats to the newly KP appointed & nominated! Very exciting times now but many more to come. I can only remain a KP parent a short 156 days now so I will offer the only advice I know to give:

Just remember, its not the ups & downs that get ya. Its the jerks & spins.

Its the best & wildest ride you'll ever have the privilege of witnessing. Many congrats.

still awaiting any word from KP.. but this sure helps motivate them more...

Thanks all for your kind words.. cant wait to see her (after Bball practice) and hug her....

after our senator turned her down for a nomination our admission rep at the USMMA told me...
"When one door closes, a window gets open".. I guess there must of been another door in the room!! :)

Of course it's the pollen.

Congratulations to your daughter. I have to say that I didn't cry on I-day. I was too busy being relieved that they didn't turn her back at the door. She wanted it so badly and it took forever for the medical to clear.

I came close to crying on Parents Weekend - something about seeing my baby take almost the same oath I'd seen my hubby take so many times. (He's retired Army.)

Anyway. hope your daughter gets what she wants. As I recall, her first choice is CGA. Good luck to daughter and to you as well!

Congratulations on nomination

Exciting news for sure! Our son just got his nomination letter from his Congressman earlier this week. He is visiting KP on Jan. 30 for his interview and tour.

She is my "choice" child so I have been crying more as I watch her grow and prepare to meet her future... From the first time I held her in my arms I knew she was special, and a gift.. I am just so thankful for being in her life and being allowed to be a part of it... I love being her mom... and as she moves on to the next part of it I just hope I get to be there for that too... even if far away :)

and yes the CGA is/was her first choice.. but the attention she has been getting from the USMMA admission is incredible, and she really likes the LT there...

Ohh yeah.. CGA is her first choice..... but I think USMMA is now lined up... so she has two 1st choices...

ohh Pollen ?!?! sniffles and watery eyes.. yup! LOL

Wonderful!! Welcome to the ranks of moms 2013. I plan on lots of tissues? JAMSMOM any advice? How do you keep in thouch during Sea Year?

Sea Year

Staying in touch during sea year will vary greatly depending on the ship they are on and where they go. We actually opened up "facebook" accounts so we could send messages. He would check them when he got into port and then eventually respond. His last ship was a "tramp" tanker that traveled throughout the Gulf of Mexico and up the East coast to Charleston S.C. On that ship he had cell phone service almost all of the time. The majority of the ships have e-mail service but access for the cadets seems to vary from company to company and even ship to ship. (It's pretty expensive since it uses satellite
up links) Bottom line, if you need to get in touch with your mid you can but the e-mails will usually have to be brief and without attachments.
