Hey!

When I was looking at my congressional applications, it says they require a transcript of the SAT/ACT test scores. Do they just need a copy of my official scores, or do they need the actual scores that are sent to me by the standardized testing companies? Thanks.

Contact your gc and ask if the SAT/ACT scores are included on your transcript. Ours were so there was no need to send it. HOWEVER, 1 specifically (I believe it was Dole) that stated they wanted it from collegeboard, so we had to pay to have it sent. She even placed her routing number that you fill out to have them sent. When you have them sent MOCs do have routing numbers just like colleges.

If I'm mailing in my packet with all my forms and I make note that I'm sending them my test scores directly from collegeboard/ACT, what happens if they get the tests before they get my packet? I'm hoping/assuming that they'll hold onto it but if they weren't expecting me then would I run into problems?

Not to worry; they are used to doing this bit of matching. Your MOC has someone handling this that knows how to match scores w/ files, no matter which arrives first.

According to our guidance counselor, many schools will no longer accept your standardized scores from your transcript; they must come directly from the College Board. Seems that there was a situation somewhere in which the scores were altered.....

Better to have them sent directly, even though there is a fee involved.

Best of luck to all.

If you don't want to pay, you can call collegeboard and they will send them to you free. You will receive a sealed official copy (or 3 in my case), that you can then include in your package to send back. I called my senators and they said that this would be acceptable, but you should probably check with yours to make sure.

Good Luck

Many MOCs only accept ACT/SAT scores directly from the College Board - even if it's on the transcript we do not accept it unless received directly from the College Board ... before you rely on it being on your transcript ask your MOC office to be sure. Ours has never accepted it from the transcript.
