I am applying to USNA, USAFA, USMA, and USCGA. In my nomination applications to my nomination sources, I put USNA #1 then USAFA #2. I am considering the AFA much more now, though. Will that only get me nominations to USNA and not USAFA? If so, will it keep me out of USAFA? Also, if I am qualified for USAFA and I receive a nomination for USNA, but I want to attend USAFA, is there any way to transfer the nomination for USAFA? Thanks.

Since the nomination process is not complete, I would advise you to call your nomination sources and have them change your order of preference. I know that the congressman also asked my son during his interview to verify his preference. I don't think you can "transfer" the nomination once it has been given, so it is better to let them know up front.

Thanks for the info- also, I'm going on the Diversity Visitation Program at USAFA this weekend. Any info I should know about it?

I am escorting for the second time for DVP this weekend. It is really a great program. Just come with questions and prepared to see what 4 degree year is really like. This is much different than you will see at orientation. If you want any more specific information, feel free to PM me with more questions. Have a great time, and take full advantage of this program. It is an amazing opportunity for applicants. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Just a quick bit of info. Nominations are academy specific. In other words, if you get a nomination for Navy; then that's what the nomination is for. You can't use it for air force. Your senator or representative would have to nominate you for both, if you want to go to air force. Some MOC's nominate for more than one. Some only nominate for one so they can give out more nominations. Best thing is to check with your nominator or their staff to determine the best way to proceed.

I'll echo what CC has said. Call and see what the MOC's policys is. At one interview I listed USNA as #1 and Kings Point as #2 ...... I got a nom to KP a few weeks later. Another MOC would only consider you for one school. I changed my #1 from USNA to USAFA a few weeks before the interview and ended up getting the nom. I think local congressmen might be a little different. A buddy of mine interviewed with his local congressman and got a clean sweep ( Noms to USAFA,USMA, and USNA). It's really just what each member prefers. A quick phone call should do the trick.
