So I'm a little confused about the process.

Do I have to send a separate letter (request) to my congressman or senators before the nomination application itself?

I know that USAFA provides a guideline for requesting a nomination, but I wasn't sure if that's the same thing as the application.

My understanding:

Application- information about my test grades, GPA, recommendations, essay from each senator/congressman

Request-a brief overview of myself, letting them know I'm interested in applying

Most, if not all, MOCs have link on their web page that describes in detail those steps needed to apply for and receive a nomination from that MOC. If you cannot locate the link, call their office and they will tell you where to find it! Look for Service Academy nomination or might be under constituent services.
