Good evening,

I am wondering as to the difficulty of obtaining a non-rated slot through AFROTC. My major is Civil Engineering, and my goal is to be an AF Civil Engineering officer. Assuming I maintain a good GPA, PFT score, and excel within the unit/field training, will this be a problem?

I know most cadets wish to go rated, so I'm hoping this will help my chances a bit.

Thanks so much!

Actually, engineering is in the technical category within AFROTC and as I recall, technical field cadets received the majority of field training slots this last cycle followed by rated with non-tech, non-rated cadets last in line. My son is an engineering student who got a slot and most of the tech cadets at his det who received slots were also engineers. I don't know what requirements the USAF has for civil engineers though. You may want to check on that... Good luck!

If you keep above a ~2.9 GPA, good PFA, and do your part around the Det, you will be fine. Volunteer for everything and be super friendly.

Worked for me!
