NORAD Closes Their "Tavern"

Here's an example of how some actual journalism addressed an issue that needed to be corrected. We don't need any compromised minds in that building.

Ah Duffleblog, what will you think of next.

Excuse me, what?

Well that's not great. Someone's gonna get crushed for this even if it never compromised a thing. There's some stuff that's just too stupid to allow, and you want to make sure folks are reminded of that every once in a while.

Any of my fellow Pentagon warriors here ever attend any of the hallway holiday parties outside major staff offices before Christmas? Could have knocked me over with a feather. I never knew, as I had escaped Pentagon duty until I was fairly senior. I assume waivers were somehow involved.

A story from a few years ago..,

You know the wheels are turning at Duffelblog as we speak. The writers are fighting over who gets to write the send up. I can see a tie in to the Chinese spy balloon.

This is not be the first case of bad behavior among people with exceedingly boring jobs doing exceedingly important work. I seem to remember a few years back there being a similar kind of issue among some missileers.

Yes, it was real. Yes, they had "intoxicants" there.

'Nuff said."

They also had them at the USMTM in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia....invitation only.

Boys will be Boys. Worked bartender some enlisted and officer clubs. OCONUS is a different world.

Different branch and different subject, but advise DS do one OCONUS rotation as you will see this great country in a different light.

So, mixed feelings on this one. I'm actually supportive of having a bar/social place SO LONG AS there are certain rules followed. The chief one being, no drinking on duty. Once the work day is done, I'm all for people hanging out. As an aviator, there have been plenty of lessons learned after working hours. Having an informal place to pass on "so there I was" stories is actually valuable.

Tossed back a lot of beers in the squadron "relaxation and BS" room. Also learned a lot of BFM/DACT tactics from old, experienced pilots that normally you didn't see/speak with.

Great for camaraderie!!

You assume that Tailhook was a learning experience but hey you can't fix stupid.
