Norwich

I may add send nothing extra than what is on the list. Extra things will sit until break in a very dark room. A very short haircut is good to get the day or so before he goes.

Good luck with his choice

Is it actually possible to cut it short enough?

DS had a great visit. Actually spent the night with a rook. He still really likes it there, so I am thinking that right now it is his top choice.

Has he visited any of the other SMCs? If so, I'm anxious to hear how Norwich compared to his other visits. Pros/cons?? We are planning a trip in January or February.

Norwich is the only one he applied to or visited. His hair is already pretty short, but not sure if it is as short as it will be cut!

On weekends Rooks wear ACU's unless it is after dinner/wake up-before brunch, which we wear PT gear unless we have other duties, like BDO or a rook is in Bugle and will play Taps, etc.

Do not get the linen service. It is better to buy and bring your own supplies and such. Get a very nice pillow and linen, etc.

Frankie (and others!) - can you take extra warm long under armour? Also, where can you buy the black "briefcase type" bag - is there a certain size/brand that works out well for a reasonable cost? Everything I have found on-line seems to be a laptop bag, but not sure that is the right size.

Any type and size is fine. So long as it is black and not flashy in anyway. Also as a Rook he'll have to hold it by the handle whenever he has it, most laptop bags have them but just in case. You can, but I wouldn't recommend anything too tight under. It's good to buy long sleeved ACU shirts (they sell them in the uniform store here) and when it gets too cold and snow is on the ground (like today), the uniform everyday will be ACU's and with the ACU jackets and other cold weather stuff he'll be issued, it should be enough. At least it is for most people. If he is really cold under all that, there's tan under winter long sleeves sold in the uniform store. We're technically not suppose to wear them, but at long as it isn't showing then it's generally fine.

How's Norwich ranked academically? I have a friend who really wants me to go there.

Norwich is strong in some majors - they have a good Nursing program and I think their computer security program is supposed to be pretty good. I went there for a semester as an Mechanical Engineering major and then transferred because I wanted more of a challenge academically and transferred to a good engineering school in my home state (still in ROTC). I don't know about the more advanced classes, but I was in freshman classes and saw rooks sleeping through all their classes, and failing while I felt that I wasn't trying too hard and got A's. I guess it depends on the person. I was also in the Honors program which was a great opportunity and I took a good honors class which was on Citizenship in American Society. Also, as a rook in the honors program I got to go to Montpelier for a day which was really nice.

I got this from their website:

For an incoming student, the average grade point average is 3.2.
For an incoming student, the average SAT score (critical reading/math combined) is about 1,100. The average ACT composite score is 24.

Did I get accepted?

How did you guys find out if you are accepted or not? I got an application update that said my status was accepted but no letter or anything like that. Nor was it on my application overview page. Thank you!!
