Sorry, if this has already been answered or if this is just common knowledge to all of you. Where do they notify candidates first? I'm deploying this coming week and am just curious whether I should be trying to check email/portal or whether I'll just be waiting for something in the mail.

It usually updates on portal/email before the actual mail is sent. When the portal is updated, an email is automatically generated that will have a letter of appointment enclosed, along with a link to the CIS to go read another document,or accept the appointment.

Since you're deploying, make sure you notify your admissions counselor of that bit of information. You should get an email notification along with seeing a change in your status on your portal. Good luck and Semper Fi!

This is what seems to happen most of the time. After they select you for appointment they notify your nominating source to give them the opportunity to notify you. Then a few days later hey update your portal. With the portal update an email goes out asking you to check the portal. The BFE via mail always lags the process by days or weeks. It seems that posters are getting notified many ways, but there is always a portal update.
