Aqua fox and blessedmom, yes I got likely letters for Yale, UPENN, Cornell and Harvard. Most came from going to 3 crew camps as there coaches talked to me. Sadly none of the usna crew coaches talked to me at all regarding possibility of coming to usna. At both Yale and UPENN, dual degree.

You sound like a super smart person, I hope USNA finds you a nom! From your user name I am guessing you are from Maryland? Very competitive district I assume, hey I wouldn't mind rowing for Harvard or Yale!! I graduated many years ago from UPenn (it's an okay school;)

Congratulations!!! Those are huge accomplishments and you should be proud of yourself. Going to Harvard or Yale and doing the NROTC route wouldn't be considered bad options at all :)

I was shot down all nom possibilities ie MOC. We live minutes from the gates.. Going to usna has been my dream since a kid. Parents have been sponsoring mids for almost 20 years! So we grew up with mids all the time lol. Im slowly coming to reality that I can't get into usna. Hard door to close but Ill get a Rotc scholarship and still serve one way or another. There is no ride on the usna roller coaster for me.

It's not over until you get decline envelope... & also if it's still your dream in one year apply again from Harvard? I bet you will get in easy:)

Also, we live 30mins from UPenn & many top students from my sons high school got rejected ED, whereas friends from Singapore & Tacoma WA & San Jose got in (they were less qualified). My point is harder for students living close by to get into top schools cuz more # of applicants. Have you thought of other SA USAFA USCGA??

Not really other SA's. Iam not saying that the other SA's are not good, for me just the wrong mission/path to serve. I would tend to agree that the closer you live (back yard) the harder it is. We have friends who to to various schools in NH, who were able to get nominations to various SA's but did not have similar credentials, just from less competitive areas. Best of luck to everyone else.

Can anyone share their experiences attending NROTC or AFROTC host colleges, is it challenging to commute to another campus for training? Interested in Harvard cadets going to MIT, U of Chicago cadets - IIT, Columbia NROTC cadets? And others? Thanks

My DD received the NROTC scholarship and placed with the ND unit. Applied for ND, SMC, GW, and USNA. Currently, accepted SMC (part of the ND unit) as Regular Decision. Waiting for both ND and GW. Received noms for USNA and waiting on that as well. Congrats to all on their placements and good luck to those waiting. Hang in there.

DS: UVA, Michigan, UPenn, Vanderbilt and USC

Was awarded 4 yr scholarship to USC in October. Got in EA to UVA and Michigan. Put in paperwork to transfer scholarship to UVA one morning and received email that afternoon that scholarship was transferred to UVA.

I am sharing the story about the scholarship transfer because we were prepared to wait weeks for transfer and it only took hours!
