When applying for the NROTC 4yr scholarship as a college freshmen will they wait for your 1st semester college grades before making a decision?

Nope, only if you apply after your first semester grades are officially posted. When I applied they used the same grades from High school. If you apply your 2nd semester of your Freshman year then your 1st semester grades will be used.

How did that work out for you? Should he wait to complete his application?

JML, I was awarded a Marine option scholarship during Christmas break my Freshman year of college. That was still with my stats from high school, so yes still apply. Any time that your name is in the hat there's a chance for selection. So be sure to apply every semester you can. Best of luck

This may be kind of academic at this point if you happen to be a Marine Option candidate. Like mattjr96, my son received his Marine Option scholarship during December last year -- which means he was selected in the November Marine Option board.

If you happen to be a Marine Option candidate and haven't applied yet, you're only chance this year would be the February board. This would mean your 1st semester grades would be considered.

What I don't know, and most really can't tell, is when the Navy boards meet.

The safe bet is to plan on having your 1st semester grades figure into the equation in my opinion.
